Early-retirement couch potato in his mid-50s.

I've seen the future. I can't afford it.

Please do not follow me if your entire persona on here is "I post and repost mostly political stuff," or because you saw that I liked a political comment somewhere, with the hope that I will follow you back. I will not.

I prefer to use this space to escape politics, for the most part.
Jeff is in Phoenixville, PA tonight, to see director and bon vivant John Waters perform his 'Going To Extremes' comedy show at the Colonial Theatre.

John is also promoting 'Pope of Trash', celebrating a 2023 museum show of original materials from his films, and 'Liarmouth', his 2022 novel.

Sometimes, our living room TV does a thing where you turn it on, and the sound & picture aren't synched. I turn it back off and then on, and it's fine.

Watching Mariah Carey sing at the Olympics opening ceremony now, and I've turned the TV off & on 3 times because of how poorly she's synched.

Top Shelf Friday time!

What's a comic in your collection that you love? ❤️

Something different this week, ALVIN #1 from Dell in 1962, based on 'Alvin & the Chipmunks' from TV and recording fame. Grand Comics Database credits Don Segall for scripts, but doesn't have any art credits.

I am still on a sabbatical from spending, but please go throw some money at Taschen during their sale.
If anyone wants to hemorrhage some money, Taschen is having sale. That Weird Science book is very tempting. #comics

MeTV is bringing THE WIZARD OF OZ back to broadcast TV. The movie has continued to be seen regularly on cable (via TNT, TCM and HBO), but its last telecast on over-the-air TV was in 1998 on CBS.

Now MeTV has licensed the classic to run this October as part of its Halloween "BOO-nanaza" stunt.

That's just silly. They should know I won't leave the house. Just leave the food, drinks, and ghosts on the front porch.

The list of titles that will be available for this year's Record Store Day event has been published! Your local indie record shop has to order them NOW, so if you're interested in specific things, let them know NOW. They can't hold stuff, but it helps them order.

As someone who has spent many a cold afternoon in an unheated warehouse these past few months, trying to condense/organize comics left over from when we closed our store (7 years ago today, in fact!), let me tell you, I can truly say, "Yes, it is possible to have too many comic books."
