context on why the resignation date is early next year - even MTG knows not to give up good health insurance when you have it
My assumption would be a pivot to punditry / Fox commentator or other similar grift.

She assumed office on 1/3/21, so 1/6/26 will give her the five years required to get a congressional pension and lifetime access to FEHB health insurance. And it'd get her out of the blast radius of a GOP collapse.

I have a fun hypothetical for the technical among us! (For certain values of fun, heh.) The scenario: You run a website. It doesn't have a mobile app: the only way to access it is in-browser. You are deeply, morally opposed to any form of invasive tracking or data-gathering on your users.

A nice obituary for Alice, who was going to be recognized as one of The Post 50.

I hate that we now have to live without this phenomenal woman.

I think it's *interesting* that of all the comments going, "They were bad candidates" I haven't seen any solid discussion, only repeating tired cliches.
Bc that hypothetical woman who could have won? If this were true she would have. The country is half female. They're not hard to find.

I promise you my take as a Black woman in America is that America isn't ready for women to actually have equality, much less Black women. And I am nowhere near her level, but America can't handle perceived power much less actual power being in the hands of women

I don't think she's using the metric you assume, I think she's speaking from experience as a First Lady & reacting to the sum total of how America reacts to the idea of women having agency over their own bodies, finances, and futures. The stats on sexual assault, domestic violence, & femicide.
Personally, I think the idea that all women should be measured by the failures of Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris is actually a sort of sexist doomerism.

This. The reaction to a woman being on the ballot was to strip women of places of honor nation wide over the last 10+ months .
lol people are mad about this but the internet alone has shown how much society hates women, ESPECIALLY women of color.

This isn’t Michelle Obama saying women aren’t qualified to be president. It’s Michelle Obama saying that people don’t WANT a woman president.

A couple people make a good point. People will vote for a woman president *in theory* but always come up with a reason why any given woman who is running is unacceptable.

I didn't want to believe this, but in the last 15 years I learned that this country is more sexist than it is racist.

And this country is reaaaaaally racist.

I still hope we'll do better someday soon but yeah we suck.
