I'm occasionally reminded how much I love the linocut art for my Halfway to Better #solarpunk collection... just look at this thing!

Each of the six stories got their own cover but those elements were also combined for the collection cover💚

We're excited to ring in the new year by announcing the sale of LIGHT & EARTH & MARROW by @jeanniemarschall.bsky.social, a cosy folklore fantasy about working with—not against—the natural and paranormal world. Coming fall 2026!

Also, librarians do put more weight on suggestions for purchase from their patrons. You can truly make a difference in what goes into your library's collection. If you want to see a book, please suggest your library purchase it.

If you're wondering where to start with #solarpunk, here's a starter pack that will give you a good idea of what the genre can do (note: we have a huge dearth of novel-length fiction in the genre — please write some! I can't do it all by myself!!).

yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.
Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest

Every year, I vow to read more...this year, I'm *allowing* myself to consume every form of human-made art, giving my curiosity full rein. This approach, no matter the result, is the "life of the mind" I truly want. This year, I let myself have it.

Everything Trump is saying suggests he spoke with oil companies and reached an agreement before they did this. I’m not sure how else he could say this so confidently.
Trump: "It's not going to cost us anything because of the money coming out of the ground."

Bluesky periodically stops working with Firefox, turning every image black on upload (works fine on Chrome). It's frustrating as hell and I think it must be every time bsky does an update, it effs something up for a few days which eventually gets fixed. 🙃

In some bit of great news, I finally received the author copies of my novella, Disgraced Return of the Kap's Needle! It spent quite an extended vacation back and forth from customs, but now I finally got them in my hands. 🖤💀
