Mamdani is a threat not because he is a special unicorn, but because his success is replicable.

THAT is why the establishment loathes and fears him.

(that and deepbaked Islamophobia)

Nevermind the administration disappearing people off the streets or murdering Caribbean fishermen or shutting down agencies illegally or declaring war on trans people or openly accepting bribes, Dems picked a fight on health care and couldn't even find the spine for that," the NOAA employee said

Eight months ago, Katie Wilson declared her intention to run and all the conventional powers-that-be said she didn't stand a chance of winning.

Remember that we don't always know what is possible.
Wilson now leads in the Seattle mayoral race by 91 votes. Prior to today, Harrell had been leading by 4,300 votes, but this latest vote batch netted Wilson 4,391 votes.

Listening to narrator auditions for some audiobooks, reading their amazing bios, reminds me there are so many people out there creating, making art, being utterly human in all the best ways.

I'm so grateful. The arts are constantly saving me.

Them: “you don’t need government supports like food or housing, that’s the church’s job!”

The Church: “Shames a homeless woman, films her and turns her away”

All she asked for was to sleep in their parking lot.

Most of us want our tax dollars to pay for those who need help the most.

So to reframe what we're all witnessing in real-time... the tech industry has already committed murder, and it is currently scrambling to figure out how to make that everyone else's problem, and to cover it up, before we notice what actually happened.

As the tech industry contracts to greater and greater amounts of code being written by fewer and fewer engineers "multiplied" by AI, we're actually effectively polluting the datasets of potentially better future models by training them on accelerating echo-chambers.

I feel like we're in a weird world where the average Dem partisan, engaged voter is better informed than most of their representatives
seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

I dropped off my food drive haul at the food bank today. They're running around like crazy. Volunteer who took my bags was a first-timer. There's more food than I've ever seen at the place before.

Heartening & horrifying.

Trump & Republicans did this.
Dems caving made sure they'll do it again.

Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

In my old town the GOP had run basically without serious challenge for decades. A bunch of us "millennials" joined the local Dem party and basically asked to help.

We were running it in a year. Within 4 years we had a majority of town seats flipped Dem. A FAR more progressive Dem than old party
“Rather than taking over the Democratic Party the same way the right took over the Republican Party, we should take the easier route and just start up a new party ourselves!”

I will not support the Republican bill that’s on the Senate floor because it fails to do anything of substance to fix America’s healthcare crisis.

I'm trying to do real work today & everyone is bashing this already, but my god:
1) Schumer clearly arranges or at least greenlights the sellout but then votes against it so he can pretend to have a spine.
2) They sell out for a *promise from Republicans*, who lie like they f'ing breathe.

Sounds good to me
Did you know that in Canada, if a budget doesn’t pass the government doesn’t shut down?

Federal workers aren’t furloughed.

Funding for social services doesn’t dry up.

Failure to pass a budget triggers an election.

It puts the politicians jobs on the line.

They get the budget passed.

You can bet your butt I will be staying registered in PA as Dem so I can vote in the primary
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

honest to god, this is the first time since Trump was re-elected that I feel like we have an actual strategy

like... not that we're organized or anything (or even need be) but this FEELING is instant and obvious and I fully expect to see it happen everywhere

Yep. Don't give up the party apparatus, organization, etc to the Vichy Dems.

Kick THEM out.

They're the ones who suck, not us.
Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.

sorry folks, the cats-on-servers is AI (it's clearer on a video version) and I can't find a story to back up that it happened (regardless of AI imagery used to "illustrate")

I deleted it

I'm still fully on board with deploying an army of cats to destroy AI

Trump's administration on Monday told the U.S. Supreme Court that it continues to seek a halt of a judge's order requiring it to fully fund food aid for 42 million low-income Americans this month.
