Again, to every videogame writer who wrote funny emails to read in an immersive sim/etc. where I rolled my eyes and said out loud, "lol like anyone would ever email something this on the nose", again, sorry, I was wrong, life sucks, you nailed it

even if you know your dem senator would *never* call them anyway and tell them how much you appreciate that they would *never* and their dedication and integrity is why they have your vote
Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

This is a great read.

Also: important to realise that this industry has become *persistently terrifying* for your favourite devs, and that is no atmosphere in which to be creative.

Try to buy games, if you're able. Buy lots of games. Review and share them if you love them. Talk about them.

I know it's not - I trust wired photo credit - but the symmetry, flames placement, whole sky is smoke - if I saw that image elsewhere I'd assume it was AI. a friend paid a local artist to make a logo people guess is AI from its layout and colors, he's still gotta replace it. AI is ruining real stuff
In September, violent protests erupted in Nepal. What happened next was unprecedented, as activists used Discord to help choose the country's interim leader.

Today on @wired.com we're publishing this deep dive into what actually happened, and what might come next.

The revolution started on social media. It ended with protests, violence, and an online poll to pick the new prime minister.

This. Your vote in today’s elections will carry 2x-10x more weight than in an “on” year containing a presidential election.

Go vote!
US friends, please go vote today in local elections (I voted early by mail already). Fewer people turnout in smaller elections so your engagement really matters.

Washington residents who have not yet voted: Our Secretary of State and local election officials recommend returning your ballot to an official county drop box or in person at a voting center, rather than mailing in your ballot. Recent USPS changes could delay postmarking.

My friend Prof is selling these adorable bats, in case you're looking for a tiny handmade friend. They give each one a unique name and it feels like each one has a unique personality. Worth a look! 🦇

Honestly

QA might be the hardest of ALL dev jobs to replace with AI. The entire goal of QA is to notice when things are falling outside of expected parameters.
It figures that an industry that thinks that "vibe coding" is a reliable thing would now decide that QA is the next thing you can replace with AI 😒

Your friendly reminder that good QA people are worth their weight in gold and an invaluable part of game dev
