The DNR reports that almost 82,000 deer have been harvested in 2025, so just picture the main room filled with deer 53 times.

Looking for examples of important national parks research that's been paused during the shutdown — especially long-term monitoring or projects with big stakes that now must contend w data gaps. Any ideas/examples? 🌲⛰️🐟

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.
We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.
We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

We’ve worked hard to get benefits out as quickly as possible. Thanks to our dedicated team, we have gotten funding to hundreds of thousands of Washington families. Everyone who receives SNAP benefits should check the status of their cards – if there are funds available, people can use them.
November SNAP benefits are beginning to flow to Washington households.
Thanks to multiple lawsuits, and repeated court orders, hundreds of thousands of Washingtonians across our state finally have the SNAP benefits they need to put food on the table.

Thanks to Donald Trump, we have corrections like “the baby was exposed to pepper spray, not tear gas.” Fucking monsters.
The @chicagotribune.com has updated its story to clarify that the baby was exposed to pepper spray, not tear gas
Shots fired at immigration agents in Little Village as residents confront Bovino, Border Patrol, authorities say
Community members once again confronted a convoy of Border Patrol agents led by Cmdr. Gregory Bovino as it moved through Chicago’s South Side neighborhoods.

We’re getting extreme winter weather in the next 24hrs and I was going to go check on NOAA since they’re usually most accurate but I forgot that it’s federal. Sucks how they can just turn off the weather reporting because republicans want to starve poor people 🤡

BREAKING: After an appeals court denied Trump's effort to withhold SNAP funds for hungry families, the President is appealing YET AGAIN all the way to the Supreme Court.
It is stunning the lengths Donald Trump will go to in order to force children and seniors to go hungry.

the only part of the system to actually work as intended and convict Trump was his jury, which the judge then proceeded to nullify on political grounds
The more democratic elements of the American constitutional and economic order are actually throwing up road blocks to Trumpism. Protests and boycotts and low level courts and juries and cetera. Elite actors on the other hand are all too frequently caving. Fascinating study in who actually cares!

Striking contrast with the seemingly endless supply of op-eds, cable news appearances and Substack posts where eminent pundits inform us that normies don't care about airy abstractions like authoritarianism and the rule of law.

So their argument is that sandwiches are weapons but tear gas is fine
Hewson also says tear gas "doesn't harm people."

Hewson: "No."
