There are basically only two positions in the debate about AI. 1. I’ve barely invested any time in learning how to use it effectively. AI sucks. 2. I’ve invested in learning how to use this tool. Holy cow, it’s transformational.
Position #1 has lower barriers to entry.

3. I’ve used it and it creates more work for me because I have to carefully check its always incorrect output.
Federal reps wanting to stop this bill should be making calls to every state and local rep in their metaphoric Rolodex and trying to get them to organize something to move their constituents or news coverage or *anything* to signal that states, cities, and towns will fight this

There are also a whole fuckload of states, including Texas, where the people literally do not have the power to bring ballot measures to a vote! www.texasobserver.org/the-reason-t...
Ah, Ohio Republicans signaling plans to do the same okey-doke DeSantis pulled in 2018: "voters amended the constitution, but now it's up to legislators to write an enabling act, which …" (*proffers language to gut the whole amendment*)

Lewiston is still in lock down. Since the gun debate is so often framed around freedom what about the freedom of movement, to leave your house, go to work, go out? Why does your right to Rambo cosplay trump my mom's right to run to the grocery store?
Mass shooting in my home town. Suspect at large according to the local newspaper. My mom is fine. It's just...the "serious" people who tell me I'm suppose to respect the people & opinions that keep this country drowning in guns. Fuck that & fuck them www.sunjournal.com/2023/10/25/m...

New from me for @msnbc.bsky.social: a look back at the Paxton trial and a look forward at the inevitable self-pitying victimization to come from Republicans complaining that, somehow, the witch hunt is still afoot:

You’d think he’d be excited about any potential business disruption among his competitors but the true competition for someone like Elon isn’t other companies, it’s everyone trying to make a fair wage.

Ken Paxton's impeachment trial isn't about morals or ethics or the rule of law -- it's about a patriarchy in crisis, and the inevitable failures of mediocre men.
