Norwegian PM Støre says Trump repeatedly raises—complains about, pleads for, and demands—the Nobel Peace Prize every time they meet. Støre gives same answer each time: decision is made independently by Norwegian Nobel Committee, with no role for Norwegian gov—a concept Trump appears unable to grasp.

The anti-tech people on here are something else. Blocked someone earlier for dissing Claude Shannon saying he didn't actually do anything and that books were all we needed to know about information.

Exactly this.
There are a lot of people we have great difficulty separating AI the tech (bad for some use cases, objectively great for others) from the people/companies driving AI spend (almost universally terrible).

What is an Information Manipulation Set and why it matters?

Recent EU investigations into foreign information manipulation increasingly rely on a concept known as the Information Manipulation Set, or IMS.
Building a common operational picture of FIMI
Doppelganger, Overload, Storm-1516, Undercut... Lost in translation when it comes to Russian information manipulation campaigns targeting the EU – and what can actually be done about them? With a small group of partners, we felt it was time to structure our collective knowledge for the community. Building on the Information Manipulation Set (IMS) concept, we applied this framework to four well-documented operations.

Brief operational term of art 🧵 to help better define what we're experiencing. What we're experiencing is state terror. I've seen a lot of terms thrown around for what the Trump admin is doing w/ICE, CBP, & other federal law enforcement (LE). The now largely out of use term is state terror. 1/

As I mentioned a few days ago, I've been surprised by the extent to which a lot of political analysis of US-EU relations hasn't taken the increasingly siloed nature between the US and Europe operations of big American tech firms into account

[Thread] The Expanse ended 4 years ago today already!

While waiting for a sequel and the Laconia story (I believe it will happen🤞), it's never too late to (re)embark in this great saga across the solar system.

And then The Expanse continues in other forms, as we will see in the following posts.

Great work from the Swedes on the Gripen supply chain.

(I'm happier my home country is flying them, even if I still have a soft spot for the Rafale)
Swedes may not be Danes when it comes to negotiating, but we are pretty good at it.
We learned from the mistake we made with the previous engine and got a "free to do as we please" clause for the Volvo built engines.

BREAKING part 3: Denmark is not acting alone. Several European allies are in dialogue with Copenhagen about providing military reinforcements to Greenland.

Preparing for the arrival of allied forces is a key task for the advance unit now on the ground.

Depending on one's social circles, I guess, but a lot of previously disguised racists seem to be coming out of hiding.

Engram — separate the factual info from the weights, dedicate more weights to reasoning instead of fact lookup

They store facts outside the main NN layers and perform lookups during inference via n-grams.

This benefits not just knowledge, but also reasoning, bc fewer weights are dedicated to facts

If you can substitute "hungry ghost trapped in a jar" for "AI" in a sentence it's probably a valid use case for LLMs. Take "I have a bunch of hungry ghosts in jars, they mainly write SQL queries for me". Sure. Reasonable use case.

"My girlfriend is a hungry ghost I trapped in a jar"? No. Deranged.
