People in the Mac Studio sub-reddit were arguing with a couple of us for pointing out the M5 should be better at prompt processing/prefill than prior M chips. One argued that weakness is subjective and since we don't know someone's uses you can't say an M2 is weaker than an M5.

I put more time into dressing my desk than I do myself. Finally settled on the black desk mat with the industrial gray new model f for a bit.

Classic misdirection
Mt. Oliver. Margaret Street. Caller said some dude with a face mask kick in his door, waved a gun around, and then stabbed him.

I guess now people have been notified and friends are out of the blast zone I can talk a little more about what had me so stressed out over the holidays and how LLMs helped save me a potential legal headache. It was something I eventually would have caught myself, but not before it was too late.

okay so here's a different graph that is interesting. if we look at negative sentiment posts by the age of the account, there is a significant uptick in negative sentiment posts coming from "elder" accounts. this chart here is looking at the past 3 days.

Saw someone claiming that Claude Code was giving people "psychosis" and I can't help but think of how we don't pathologize other hobbies where people get a taste and go all in. We wouldn't say someone building a bird house and then going out and buying a bunch of new tools was psychosis.

Twitter taught us billionaires, politicians and investors were secretly all no smarter than the average person. Bluesky seems to be trying to teach us that scientists and intellectuals are the same too

I’m surprised people still take Futurism seriously. I guess they ignore all the clickbait bullshit because they also seem to hate the things they hate.

I understand that people want to think they have found the cause of the agony they are going through, they have found the perpetrator who took their loved ones away. Fixation on one factor might bring you temporary relief but it’s not worth the distraction from effective solutions.
Because they’re not. Anyone with even minimal crisis-response training and familiarity with suicidality understands that psychosis is a complex, multifactorial condition—and that this fixation on chatbots distracts from the far more important work of identifying and addressing its underlying causes.
For all that the media has spent years freaking out about what social media does to our brains, I don’t understand why there appears to be little effort to grapple with the fact that these chatbots are, for some not insignificant portion of the population, literally psychosis machines

Had been putting off integrating the full skills spec into my app since I had originally gated filesystem access to the cwd and since skills need to be accessible by the model it would have made it a pain. Codex completely refactored it to take additional paths and mount them into the container.

I should add a hook to my app that fires on /quit or KeyboardInterrupt and gives the model a chance to beg you not to.

I've heard LLMs referred to as a mirror, but sympathetic resonance seems like a more apt metaphor. Could also encompass aspects of training.

One thing I miss from the 1900's is the feeling of sticking a cartridge into a machine and then having it hand it back to you.
