For all the handwringing about "transplants" & their "disrespect" of nyc's culture, the #1 cohort of people who hate demographic change and diversity are the NYers who haven't left the six blocks they grew up in
I realise I'm just a freak, but living in a multicultural city is the best thing of all time, it's just the best possible human experience and i can not understand why anyone on earth would be like "weve got to destroy this"

Just another murder by car in San Diego. The woman just drove off leaving the child to die. A city that prioritizes cars over people is selfish and evil.

This is partly because an entire generation of Americans in the 90s and 00s were told by media and political elites that a bunch of things would never happen that then started happening after 2015
people are spinning out scenarios that they can imagine seeng in movies and then asserting that trump will absolutely accomplish this because, as you know, he holds the infinity stones

The deck is stacked in about 10 different ways to give extra power and money to rural areas, but it's never enough. Right wing propaganda continues to tell them they are out upon victims powerless against the mighty cities.
Stage 5 pundit-brain is watching an innocent woman being killed by agents of the state and going, "hmm this says a lot about the urban-rural divide in America."

City residents take nonstop abuse about how dangerous cities are and how cities aren't "real America" while rural Americans cry fakes tears into their beers about their lack of political power, which is currently at an apex as Republicans have diluted the power of cities where most people live.
Republicans control all 3 branches of government. Even when they don't, both parties pump out constant rhetoric about "real Americans" living in rural areas.

The entire premise of this article is a conservative-fluffing myth. Cities have more political power because that's where most people live!
