Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

How thoughtful of Howard Lutnick to bring a bunch of children to Epstein Island. They’ll have lots of other kids to play with.

34,000 signing up for this work AFTER seeing their fellow citizens gunned down by federal thugs in cold blood? I'm chugging whatever the opposite of doomerism is
More than 34,000 Minnesotans signed up to be trained as ICED observers with various activist groups in recent weeks, many of them since Jan. 7, when a federal agent shot and killed Renée Good.
Thousands of new ICE watchers hit the streets after two killings
Minnesotans outraged by the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti have signed up in large numbers to monitor and protest ICE with other activists.

It’s entirely legal to record LE officers from your car. So they’re brazenly, illegally terrorizing this woman for exercising her constitutional rights.

Yet we know that none of these officers be held accountable. We know this administration encourages this behavior.

This is police state stuff.
This is just insane. It’s only a matter of time before DHS kills another innocent person here.

The erosion of democracy in the US is clear even if you don't use intl comparisons. From the Century Foundation:
"In the first year of Trump 2.0, the United States went from being a passing if imperfect democracy to behaving like an authoritarian state."

Nonsense. It's not possible to steal AI technology. I know this because Google's own LLMs are built using a complete copy of my legal blog, and that's somehow not stealing because, as Google says, a complete copy of my legal blog is both trivial and utterly essential for their tech to work.

Just to reiterate what the OP is saying here; so many cases of police use of force, and even police killings, involve the cops themselves creating incredibly stressful, chaotic situations, and using their victims reactions to those immense stressors as justification for violence.
This is sort of a throughline in cases of excessive force used by law enforcement. The civilian is supposed to perfectly adhere to some unwritten code of conduct; the armed professional supposedly trained for such situations is only human & must be given lattitude if they succumb to fear and rage.
The administration is insisting that its masked goons are so emotionally stunted that words can launch them into a murderous rage.

"Our professionals are just ordinary people so ordinary people better act professionally around them, or else."

Tyranny. The major difference between the USA and other oppressive regimes right now is that the internet is not yet censored so we can all see and share video of this, but conservative purchases of Twitter and TikTok (and pressure on other social platforms) are trying to end that
We’re just not a free country.

Any American watching this play out between regime forces and journalists overseas would recognize it for what it is.

Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down

ICE's decision to just leave cars abandoned in the roads is one of those dystopian things that makes you recoil in shock when you encounter it.
A legal asylum-seeker who works at Chipotle and plays music at a church in Maine went missing. His pastor searched and searched, eventually finding his abandoned car with the keys on the floor.

ICE grabbed him. No criminal record. No explanation.
