Reminder to anyone who needs it today: Reading books (at home, on the bus, in Starbucks); owning books; loving books; discussing books. None of these things are “performative” unless you’re selling tickets.

Following @auschwitzmemorial.bsky.social breaks my heart every day.
As it should.
12 October 1940 | Dutch Jew, David Costima, was born in Amsterdam.

In October 1942 he was deported to #Auschwitz from #Westerbork. He was murdered in a gas chamber with his elder brother Isaäc.

Great thread.
The death of multi-camera TV: a thread. I know most of you will know the technical parts of this (and may have read it in the other place) but bear with me. 1/ 🧵

Today I got down my 1986 copy of Rider, in honour of Jilly. I was far too young to be given the hardback from the library by my mother 😳 but I couldn't wait to get my own copy.
I normally keep my books pristine, no broken spine. But this one has been so well read and loved, and it shows it.

Jane Goodall's work insisting, with evidence from her brilliant and tenacious fieldwork, that we were not so separate from animals, and they were much more like us than the Eurocentric theorists asserted, was so important.

Too late, Batman. Once this Tylenol floods the city's water supply, my wiki won't run out of editors ever again

Great thread, thank you.
There are plenty of books at your local libraries and bookstores to read and learn about autism that do not focus on Tylenol. Best of all, more and more books are being written and illustrated. More and are being published! 📚

😊 Here are a few:

I've just added a couple of Maureen Duffy books to my wish list. I knew her name but hadn't read her - yet.
Bravo to Bernadine Evaristo for setting up the RSL Pioneer Prize for older women writers, and for naming the working-class-born playright, poet, novelist, nonfiction writer, and activist Maureen Duffy as its first recipient.
