RELEASED TODAY thanks to Penguin Random House and DC Comics our ‘audio movie’ of the graphic novel KINGDOM COME by Mark Waid and Alex Ross. This production gave me the chance to return after three decades to both Metropolis *and* Gotham City. Here's what the author says about our new version: 1/14

I don't know how many times it needs to be said that you absolutely should not let fucking "AI" anywhere near your legal contracts, either in creating them or evaluating them, but apparently it needs to be said at least one more time, so allow me to say it again, here, right now

I spent a day recording Rutger Hauer who had a large part in our 2016 Alien: Out Of The Shadows audio drama. He complained about having too much to say and compared it to Blade Runner where he managed to get a two page speech down to two lines. I explained we kind of needed stuff said in our medium.

Letter to the FT that stingingly sums up Brexit and the shit creek we now find ourselves in.
A terrible idea (naive, prejudiced and uninformed) that has deeply divided us and left us poorer and less secure… but unwilling to face up to the damage we’ve done to ourselves. While the EU moves on.

Go well, Chris Rea and thank you for so much great music, especially after you rediscovered your blues roots. (Also for a superb intimate gig at The Bush Hall back in 2006.)

Goldman: This guy is so clearly trying to follow the Putin model—using the government to make money, making sure his allies control the most important companies in the country, including our media companies, doling out money by deregulating their industries, and taking money from them in return…

Michael Roberts just sent me this slightly damaged dressing room photo of himself and Barry Cryer in "A Saint She Ain't" (Dick Vosburgh, Denis King, directed by Ned Sherrin) backstage in 1999. I'm *certain* the sign over Baz's head prohibiting the drinking of alcohol was scrupulously observed.

Lissa's Literary Advent calendar is a highlight of Christmas for me in much the same way as Fanny Cradock's Festive Cookery *wasn't*.
(My mother made a lot of Fanny's Yuletide recipes and they were uniformly horrible)
Well, I seem to be back on Blue Sky, so straight into a catch up of my #LIteraryAdventCalendar2025.
Day 1, and it's one of my all-time favourites: journalist Lynn Barber attempts to interview Margaret, Duchess of Argyll, (ultra posh, with a scandalous past) about her book on dinner parties.

Astonishing
Wanna see something crazy?
Drone warfare in Ukraine has changed the frontline dramatically. A huge, chaotic grey zone with no clear “line” demarking armies as individual soldiers hunker down, pinned by drone attack. EW initially helped defend against drone attack by jamming or spoofing signals
😳 Lyman and fiber optic cables…

Really enjoyed talking to Joel at Tripwire about our recent DC Comics/Penguin Random House Audio, though worth mentioning that this is a transcript of a live chat and at times I may sound a like I had sunk a few bourbons* beforehand. Honest guv, not a drop touched me lips.
(*Afterwards*, though …)
