Watching Yes Minister last night and struck by how much Scarfe's caricature of Sir Humphrey now looks like Ralph Fiennes

THE BLOCKHOUSE (1973)

Nary a titter to be found in this bleak WW2-set film featuring Peter Sellers and Peter Vaughan, but despite this Bob Fischer @bobfischer.bsky.social and your host wrung out some laughs plus Bob recalled talking to Vaughan about the film: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t...

Married OTD 1964: Peter Sellers and Britt Ekland

Joint best men were David Lodge and Graham Stark and three days later Sellers flew to Hollywood to begin filming Kiss Me Stupid for Billy Wilder. Soon after that his dicky ticker packed up and he almost died.

An eventful few months for him.

This is seriously one of the most depressing things I’ve read. Sorry, but you just *know* this person shouts rather than speaks
Meanwhile, on threads, which actually is like what people on twitter think bluesky is like, a "teacher, author, poet" speaks...

Graeme Garden's birthday today. A man whose uncanny, almost eldritch ability to sit doing seemingly almost nothing in a group of fellow comedians and then walk off with the entire show in his pocket thanks to single killer line is unrivalled. Man's a genuine genius. Happy Birthday, Graybags.

Watched an old British b-feature which is hard to track down and probably only a dozen people still living have ever seen. It has no plot, no budget, no actors. There’s a lot of music, none of it memorable and jokes that die like lice in a Russian’s beard.

Oh, and Elvis is in it. Sort of.

Every house legally required to have at least one room papered with asbestos-reinforced Anaglypta
Your challenge for the day is to invent a ReformUK policy. On Shrove Tuesday next year we get to see if they’ve adopted it.

Remember, it should appeal to insane pensioners and absolutely nobody else. QT with yours!

The Running, Jumping and Standing Still Film (1959)

11 minutes of friends dicking about in a field made on a budget of £70 and which got Oscar-nominated. That is still astonishing.

Here we are, talking about it: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t...

I love Talking Pictures TV but the website isn't designed with its core audience in mind. You need to scroll down to the bottom of the home page to find the schedule and it's in tiny print and then you have to accurately position your mouse over some small dots to see different days, I could go on

I prefer not to think of John Cleese as that cranky old geezer kvetching on social media and remember him instead as that cranky old geezer who always needs money to pay those American ex-wives

Watched an old Parkinson where the guests were Jim Henson, Frank Oz and Rolf Harris.

At one point Kermit stares at Harris (who's been doing that weird puffing/panting thing) and says roughly something like "You're a very odd man."

Listened to some radio Hancock tonight.

Nope. It still leaves me a bit cold. Love the supporting cast but TH himself is irritating. I can’t say why. I know it’s my problem.

What must I do?
