More clearly than ever, it's Socialism or Barbarism. We either commit to the labor of solidarity, working collectively for the betterment of all, or we accept submission to the arbitrary brutality of unjust authority.

Why I Call Myself a Socialist: Is the World Really a Stage?
The actor knows we are more than what we seem. When he's on stage, he's in a sense deceiving his friends in the audience less than he does in daily life, because on stage he's disclosing the parts of ...

Quote of the Day:

“I warn you that you will have pain, when healing and relief depend upon payment. I warn you that you will have ignorance, when talents are untended and wits are wasted. I warn you that you will have poverty, when pensions slip and benefits are whittled away.” (Neil Kinnock)

When Rude came to a signing at Charlie's Comics in Tucson back in 2005, at one point he was approached by this toddler whose dad brought him. The kid was making "up" motions at Steve, and he said "Hey little man, do you want The Dude to pick you up?" It was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.

Imagine being a moral person in the United States. Is it any wonder we're all obese and have anxiety?

So much of American history is just impulsive and extremely stupid elites, who don't believe in consequences because they have never personally experienced them, doing highly consequential stuff because they're bored or believe it might make them richer. I guess a lot of our culture, too.

I am now imagining a Rocky Horror style showing of LOTR where instead of singing and dancing, it is a participatory reading of the IMDB trivia page.

My wife asked if I wanted to watch 'Elf' tonight, to which I replied, "I don't know, I haven't seen Eins through Zehn yet," and she is so, so angry with me.

I've always loved the old Topps trading card display boxes from the 70s and 80s. Only one I owned was an old Superman II box that had seen far better days. So I scanned the packaging, cleaned it up, and built and decoupage'd a working wooden Superman II display box! Now I got one that'll last!

You shouldn't be using *any* tools to make your art. You should be manifesting the finished work through sheer power of will alone.

Tapping the sign
I've never even seen the Avatar films but, at this stage in the discourse, I'd rather drive off a cliff in a car full of people who love those movies than spend twenty seconds in an elevator with one person who hates 'em.

It's the anniversary of my sobriety today. I don't keep track of the years so, whenever this comes around, I have to check the release date of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" to see how long it's been (13 years) because I had my last drink right before seeing that film in a theater in Seattle.
