If you see this, quote with a robot that isn’t from “Star Wars,” “Star Trek,” “Doctor Who,” or “Transformers".

Post you from a different era - me in my happy place with my best pal, then, now and always, 1985.

RIP John Woodvine. He, Jenny Agutter & Brian Glover reprised their movie roles in our BBC Radio ‘An American Werewolf In London’. In rehearsal I took him through an extra scene I had written (with John Landis’s permission). “Don’t worry Dirk”, said John W, “I’ll do my best to improve your writing…”

There's a 'Radio Comedy' facebook group off which I suspect I am about to be kicked, as I keep correcting the posts of its main contributor, whose dedication is impressive but whose research is abysmal.

It’s the 85th Anniversary of The Battle Of Britain. This never gets old.

Sad to report that Tony Award-winning actor/composer Frank Lazarus - Ravelli, the Chico Marx character in our BBC “Flywheel, Shyster and Flywheel” re-creations of the early 1990s - died yesterday at the age of 86. The recent repeats of Flywheel on BBC Radio 4 Extra speak are fitting tribute. RIP.

Here's a clip of KINGDOM COME audio promoting the new production, alongside Alex Ross's stunning art. Note: Alex is a genius, but you don't need to read along to follow our story. Your imagination can make its own pictures, and usually does.

With Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman & more - even the Joker - after three decades I'm back in Metropolis and Gotham City in November with KINGDOM COME by Mark Waid and Alex Ross, a fully cast, cinematic audio drama from DC and Penguin Random House Audio, with music by my SANDMAN pal James Hannigan.

I joined the BBC on the same day as Miti Adhikari who went on to be one of its finest sound engineers & music producers. Yesterday all of us on that long-ago course got together to raise a vintage BBC paper cup of fizz to our dear pal (who Dave Grohl saluted onstage when he retired). Rock on, Miti.

Tomorrow night I'm giving a talk about my career at the Haywards Heath Arts Festival in West Sussex, England. There's a ton of clips (many video, rarely if ever seen) and a lot of inside stories about working in radio, audio, animation and more. If you can make it I think you'll enjoy it.

Not much interested in the politics of parades but as a drummer my eyes are drawn to the fella with the bass drum and, as always with patriotic events like this in a country that makes superb drums, puzzled that he’s playing a Japanese instrument.
(Also not a marching drum - see US drum catalogs)
