Today I got down my 1986 copy of Rider, in honour of Jilly. I was far too young to be given the hardback from the library by my mother 😳 but I couldn't wait to get my own copy.
I normally keep my books pristine, no broken spine. But this one has been so well read and loved, and it shows it.

So this was my second one.
I'm hoping to make a cinnamon one next.

I missed yesterday's post as I was late coming down a mountain. Here's a rare picture from me of a clematis with its petals still on.

The remains of this clematis flower are almost prettier than when it had petals.

And here's a double headed aquileia in my favourite shade for yesterday.
May 26, 2025 at 10:11 PM
Oops, I missed a couple of days of daily nature posts. I've never seen an aquilegia in this ghostly blue-white shade before.

I don't remember this flower with petals, but as a seed head it's stunning.

I've never seen this plant before, sort of tall climbing primroses stacked on top of each other.

Stunning spiky blue plant in a garden at work.

More hedgerow wildflowers in the key of pink.

Another plant that the bees keep coming back to.

A beautiful rose and a very busy bee.

I swear cow parsley season gets earlier every year.

Waves of buttercups breaking against the dark woods.

May blossom. Very glad the scent doesn't come through on here.

The first cistus out in the garden.

Rosemary flowering like crazy
May 13, 2025 at 8:50 PM
Not the usual bright pink hawthorn leaves
May 12, 2025 at 9:14 PM
I've never seen such amazingly spotted leaves on an early purple orchid before.

Broom appears to be flowering like crazy this year

I love the candle-like clusters pf flowers on chestnut trees - but up close like this they look like underwater creatures.
