I live in Vegas and I think I could probably read a book outside at night, it's so bright here
Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

"This woke Me-Too bullshit has gone too far," said the former Harvard President and Secretary of the U.S. Treasury to the billionaire pedophile sex trafficker in a private email that the Justice Department under both parties kept secret for years

This is true and when I worked at the gas station if folks bought a sub with snap I'd sell it to them cold and then we like "I see you have a sandwich that you have already purchased, would you like me to toast it as a personal favor?" Idk if thats legal but i feel like I could convince a jury
Most people don’t know that with SNAP you are banned from buying “foods that are hot at the point of sale”. So even if you have SNAP (which people don’t now) you can’t get cooked food. Which means you need to also actually have the resources to PREPARE a “healthy” meal.
Thinking about the social stigma against eating fast food in a country where poor people are being starved by the govt, the cost of groceries and fresh vegetables are astronomical, and a cheeseburger at McDonald’s costs $3.50.

“Clean” and “healthy” eating rhetoric is racist, ableist, and classist.

This is the take.
i don’t think the main problem with the american church is “too many of them refuse to be scammed by a lady who is obviously lying.”
There is a lady on TikTok pretending to have a baby that has gone without formula all night — she is calling churches around the country to ask if they can help.

Some of them are really embarrassing themselves. Especially the mega-churches.

I have been screaming this to the heavens for years and it’s lovely to see more people noticing: BEING safe is a right, FEELING safe is between you and your therapist. And the demand to FEEL safe is constantly weaponized to deprive other people of their real, actual safety.
One thing the NYC mayoral race underscored for me is how easily the phrase "I don't feel safe" can be weaponized. It's an argument I would hesitate ever to use again, even for a good cause. I hope we can all agree that we have the right to BE safe. Maybe we should leave it at that.

Reminder that "Woman of Valor" can also mean "Wealthy Woman." I have argued that Proverbs 31, from the beginning of the chapter that deals with the role of kings, to the "Woman of valor," is really a critique of the wealthy and a call for responsible stewardship of wealth
Women in the Bible often don't get enough credit

As one example:

The Proverbs 31 woman's entire full-time support staff

(no, for real. verse 15.)

Proud of our Halloween costumes! I made the teapot hat out of paper mache and sewed the cape out of thrifted curtains! It was a fun project!

At the urgent care for possible gall bladder issues? Pregnancy ruins your body and also getting medical care is way more of a hassle when you have to bring along a baby but she's worth it

i think a lot of people don't understand what translating a text _is_. languages are not just word-for-word ciphers for each other. translation involves making a lot of complex creative choices, and the longer the text the more complex. it is, ultimately, an act of rewriting from scratch.

The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight

Only unhinged relative to the book discourse online but virtually every classic is with reading and deserves its reputation, and people who say Catcher or Wuthering or whatever are bad are just poor readers.

Meanwhile, Nevadans are financially drowning bc of skyrocketing utility costs
Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.
SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency
