The American flag is one of the most potent symbols in politics and if you can claim it for your side you have a huge advantage.
From an optics perspective... the protesters being the ones waving the US flag while Bovino et al looks like every awful nazi inspired movie we've ever seen... hats off to Minnesotans.
Greg Bovino was seen earlier today at the Minneapolis ICE facility dressed in a very nazi-inspired outfit. They don’t even hide anymore.

1) Very bad sign that NYT, and not CBS, is breaking this.

Four GOP Senators.

At most four Repubs in the House.

Together they could stop nearly all the mad-king's rampages. They would be known to history as Profiles in Courage. They might/would lose the next election. But people have sacrificed a lot more, for a lot less.
I can't repeat this enough.
I've said this before and I'll say it again.
It would only take a tiny handful of Republican Congress members or senators to stop the slide of America toward authoritarian fascism, but nope. They're all in.

What makes this statement by Emmanuel Macron so unprecedented is, for the first time, a leading European ally is equating Trump with Putin.

“No intimidation or threat will influence us - neither in Ukraine, nor in Greenland, nor anywhere else in the world.”

EVERYTHING has changed.

The funniest thing in here is each time someone realizes that UATX is a conservative project. I have sympathy, sort of, for undergrads - but any faculty who bought into the 'free speech' thing should be permanently shunned from academia for being, you know, not very bright.
this is a rollicking great read

it's a story of a bunch of tenured idealists who believed that they were building a university dedicated to free speech and free inquiry, but then lost control of their project to... the right-wing megadonors who funded the university

One of the things about people showing up to protest for the first time, that many, many armchair theorists don't grasp, is the effect of seeing what happens with your own eyes, then seeing how media covers it, and what is said ABOUT YOU by media and political personalities/office holders.
