The current person in charge of ICE's procurement for detention is a GEO Group executive who ran the company's immigration detention portfolio. He was granted an "ethics waiver" from DHS allowing him to hand out contracts to GEO in his new role.

I think both this post and the romance author AI story aren’t really about AI, they’re about people in those industries showing how poorly they think of the people who consume the work they produce. That romance author came off like Carol in Pluribus about her audience, and this is kind of the same.

I used to encourage my Sociology students to look for job opportunities with Gallup. Yet, with Gallup's decision to stop collecting presidential approval data, I don't think I can offer that advice in good faith anymore.
For context, Gallup's most recent poll showed Trump with a <37% approval rating.
Yet, they claim (dubiously) that this is just part of a "broader, ongoing effort to align all of Gallup's public work with its mission," and that they're still upholding "the highest standards of social science."
