Speaking of dill and potatoes, my Ukrainian recipe for borshch (there is no "t" in it in Ukrainian, dammit!) prominently features both. My daughter grew beets in her garden this summer, so we made a variation of it tonight. With a glass of Lithuanian Kvass. Awesome stuff, both soup & kvass.

My son is an avid birder, and got into the vet stuff via his interest in birds, so I don't think he'll ever turn a chicken away when he starts practicing. But he's also volunteering at the raptor barn, so I tease him that he's being a traitor to his chickens.
