There are so many elements that have made his ascension possible: co-opted corporate media; social media’s unregulated environment; the overwhelm from the sheer number of misdeeds; coordinated foreign interference; destruction of K-12 education; racist grievance culture; unchecked gross inequity.

My god do we need UBI

“Researchers have found that when a new plasma center opens in a neighborhood, foot traffic at local grocery stores increases, interest in payday loans declines and crime goes down, an indication of the way money from plasma props up households’ finances for necessities.“
Middle-class Americans are selling their plasma to make ends meet
Last year, people in the U.S. made an estimated $4.7 billion selling their plasma. Donation centers are popping up in middle-class neighborhoods, including suburban strip malls and college towns.

The part where they don’t feel they are beholden to and trapped in the same system themselves. Amazing.

"Invisible whips directing invisible labor." This really gives the game away. The agent-orati are getting a dopamine hit from the power over automation, docile bodies.

"Reading a novel feels indulgent." As if enriching oneself is a waste. You could be exercising your power over something instead.

I miss David every day.

Home just in time for the LAPD to be buzzing my neighborhood with helicopters. Cool.

The late David Golumbia saw weev (real name: Andrew Auernheimer) as a linchpin in Silicon Valley's turn toward fascism. He spends nearly a whole chapter on weev in "Cyberlibertarianism: The Right Wing Politics of Digital Technology."
A strange find from the Epstein files:

A hacker named Vincenzo Iozzo shares with Epstein a rumor that Peter Thiel was "bankrolling" the neo-Nazi white supremacist hacker troll known as "weev."

Conversation is about financial strategies and "currencies."

And the shit is so tacky.

Trying to figure out why they don’t explain that $1337 spells “LEET,” as in leetspeak. Does everyone just know that? Otherwise why would this stupid piece of plastic cost that much? Like ole fElon pricing stuff at 420 yuk yuk yuk.

A major reason that Gavin Newsom will not be the Democratic nominee is that it's very clear that he read the same stuff we all did last year about swing voters not liking orthodox social liberals and is "pivoting" on certain issues to try and pretend that he didn't have an entire career being one

And because he’s a garbage loser, he repeated his little joke.

Man, that mess of a Bondi hearing still has me upset.

Don’t buy Ray-Bans. Let’s all not.
Meta's plan for launching glasses that people can use to secretly identify strangers on the street is to do it "during a dynamic political environment" when people who care about why that's bad are "focused on other concerns."

One thing abt reading a paper paper is that you can see — and be 🤬 by — how much industry attention + attentional real estate are consumed by, and how capital is concentrated in, the stupidest, most nefarious things.

Meanwhile, I’d ❤️ a mere $20K to sustain a collaborative library protect

It is estimated that 762,000 people have *already died* as a result of Elon Musk and Russell Vought’s obscene murder of USAID, including more than 500,000 children.

cool, cool. so we are sort of like citizens, but not really?

:/

I think the story demonstrates the opposite of luck.

I scored a ticket for tonight’s Marty Supreme screening to be introduced by Timothée Chalamet. I took an uber to the theater and waited in line, and at five minutes before the screening the folks came out to say that he’d had “an emergency” and wouldn’t be doing the opening. Should have had a V8.

This gal seems literate, though, and even fluent in the use of “flowered” language.
It's not a new observation at this point but that wild Noem/Lewandowski story in WSJ really brings home the extent to which all the Trump 2 cabinet-level goblins see their jobs as flying private, doing short-form video, and screaming at underlings. They all hate each other and none of them can read.

What a scumbag. "I fired five times and she had seven holes."
