I'm embarrassingly excited about MARTA's installation of new fare gates and Breeze machines. The broken gates at stations are going away in a few months and that's great news.

The map needs to show frequent buses (15 min or less) and future BRT routes. Not just rail. Make the frequent bus routes and extension of rail. I feel that many riders do not ride buses because they don't know the routes w/o extensive research.

New marta system map just dropped. It's a huge improvement in legibility, but with two flaws:

1. The Sweet Auburn Market Streetcar stop (top left) is missing
2. Unlike other systems maps that preview future expansions, it does not have the future Rapid A BRT!

How would @alexip718.com fix Atlanta?

Immigrants pay taxes, work hard, send their kids to public schools, and build better futures for their communities.

It's time to let them vote in local elections as well.

The experience of being a pedestrian on Atlanta streets -- especially ones that connect to MARTA -- needs a lot of work. But when I'm riding the train, I get to take a break from those issues and just enjoy the view.

Atlanta looks great from a train window.

This is a CQ400 stan account. These trains are sooooo sleek and advanced, and I'm proud that my city is rolling them out (pun intended)

Peachtree Street this evening, as seen from the window of an in-motion MARTA bus. I love looking at the city from a bus window, especially at night. Atlanta needs to fall in love with buses, IMO. That's a recipe for urban success.

Atlanta will now be home to a 12-foot-statue of Kermit the Frog dressed as Charlie Chaplin. It will be outside the Center for Puppetry Arts in Midtown www.wsbtv.com/news/local/a...

Please spread this far and wide.

A maker/artist space that I know and love called South River Studios burned down over night.

Many artist friends and artisans have lost everything.

Consider giving if you can

We need your help to keep our public service journalism going into 2026. We lost a major donor (Google) and have run a deficit in recent weeks.

But what we may lack in funding from billionaires or corporations, we have human decency, cultural competency, and a determination to pursue truth.
Trump may have banned hundreds of terms, but he can never dictate what we cover and what we don't cover.

Tell a friend about NewsMatch: from now until the end of the year, your new monthly donation is matched 36x (or your one-time donation QUADRUPLED!), up to $1,000.
