Congratulations Atlanta, you elected a person who doesn't know the position.
Devin Franklin asks Council President Marci Collier Overstreet where in the code it requires someone who donated time to be present at the time when donee begins speaking.

She says "it's in there."

I personally cannot find anything to that effect.

The ecomonic impact to local ecomonies are always overinfalted by chamber of commerce-types.
@jcbradbury.com do you have any estimate of what the TRUE impact could be for a host city?
How much money do we think City of Atlanta is spending to prepare for World Cup? Metro Chamber economists estimate a $500 million economic impact, so if Atlanta collects it 1.5% share of sales tax, that’s only like $7.5 million which is like a rounding error compared to city budget.

Here is my email to ZRB
To whom it may concern,
I am a resident of Kirkwood and NPU-O. I voted in favor of the above referenced project, twice. I have lived in Kirkwood and NPU-O for 15 years. I have seen the cost of housing continue to rise and price out the majority of the legacy residents.
Kirkwood NPU rejects 47-microunit complex for elderly unhoused Atlantans

The chorus of “no” votes doesn't mean the plan to build long-term housing for unhoused people is finished.

JFC eliminating property taxes would be a neutron bomb on local governments. Giving rich homeowners a 100% tax break but continuing to tax renters would be fiscal genocide.

Fact: MARTA Transit is moving forward with ~20 miles of high capacity transit south of I-20, yet Atlantans are being told 2.5 miles for the #1 most supported project Eastside BeltLine Rail is somehow too much to ask.

Enough!!

Prioritize the project and let’s get it done.

I hope MARTOC get involved and investigates what happened behind closed doors. I hope Council Transportation Committee holds a work session & calls those who are responsible for the vote to speak in a public meeting.

Zoning 2.0 has been a huge disappointment and will only lead to higher housing prices, more displacement, and higher infrastructure costs.
bsky.app/profile/mayo...
And apparently they will continue to be illegal under tomorrow’s laws. Zoning 2.0 is supposedly copying 1:1 from the old zoning districts to new zoning districts, so these 1980’s downzoning of historic buildings is going to carry over into the 2030’s and beyond. Illegal apartments will stay illegal.

Saying what others are too afraid to say about Atlanta.
I always tell people that Trump wants to run America like Atlanta: a playground for a oligarchs and segregationists, where referendums can be annulled by decree, residents are more surveilled than any city on Earth, and dissenters get hit with RICO charges for the sin of handing out flyers
The legal and moral implications aside, I cannot image anyone looking at Georgia as a competitive midterm battleground and saying, “let’s bring the most unpopular elements of this Administration to the Atlanta Metro.”

Atlanta's population will never break 1M. Given its failure to invest in transit and make actual changes to its zoning.
