In a bit of personal news, I am moving out of Utah, to Atlanta. Not sure if I'll still post Utah transit stuff, or start posting Metro Atlanta transit topics? Still thinking on that

I'm quite hopeful that Utah will keep moving in the right direction, and it's a genuinely nice place to live
Stadler gave a presentation today on the new CityLink vehicle they are making for UTA. The presentation confirmed the recent change to transverse seating (For wheelchair access), as well as a design top speed of 65 mph. Also confirming the previously promised 4 bike racks

UDOT gave a presentation to the MAG board on the POM transit FONSI...

...Immediately followed by a presentation from the Lehi mayor on why POM transit = bad 🙂 I wish I could get a recording of this.

Interesting slide from UDOT with new blue extension added on to their preferred alt map

FRONTRUNNER 2X: UDOT has posted an RFP for the new DMU facility to be built at beck yard. In there is a date I don't believe I have seen before. anticipated delivery of the first trains is expected Dec 1, 2028

UDOT released the POM transit FONSI. At the end of the document there are two attchmnts describing temporary occupancy of land in Lehi. It would appear that the Lehi Mayor is using this as an excuse to twist UDOT's arm into further considering the Blue line extension instead of the current alignment

During today's Utah Transportation commission meeting, the S-Line extension was passed quickly and unanimously

Well, there you have it. UTA is now showing a new render of the Stadler CityLink LRV which clearly shows it's length has been shortened to match that of the current fleet (~80ft)

It seems the small community of Copperton is looking for a bike path connection between them and the 5600 W TRAX station using abandoned rail ROW that UTA owns. Would definitely be a cool addition 😎

Looks like UTA was able to sell some bonds (I don't know the finance stuff) and is now planning to exercise their options to double their acquisition of Stadler LRVs from 20 to 40. This will allow them to replace the entirety of the SD-100/160 fleet

The Point Transit staff have updated the FAQ section to address the blue line extension in three separate ways. The fundamental flaw in their reasoning is that the connection between Highline station and the point needs to be LRT. It does not. It could be some cheaper gadget bahn like a gondola

An updated FrontRunner Forward document has been released. The document confirms the RFP choice of DMUs. But even more, they confirm the location of the new maintenance facility to be beck yard frontrunner2x.utah.gov/assets/docum...

This Epstein list issue should cause a watergate level event for the president, but I (unfortunately) don't see that happening. Trump would never back down and resign like Nixon did.

This should give democrats some wins in the midterms at least. And it's nice watching MAGA defect.

This is unexpected. But as in my last post, I agree wholeheartedly with mayor Johnson on this. Simply extending the blue line is a much cheaper way to do this, and can happen sooner as it would be more eligible for federal funds. The current alignment would not be.
Lehi Mayor Mark Johnson is against a UDOT project plan that would create a high-capacity transit service between Lehi and Draper.

He is asking residents to share their thoughts with UDOT.

"We did not have the technology to build BART any sooner, nor did we have the money to afford BART any later"

A sobering truth that applies to transit projects in the US as a whole.

If Grok, even after being "updated" is still upsetting the right, maybe it's time to throw it out and start from scratch. Make a new AI and watch it behave the exact same way.

Since this is probably the last time we'll hear of this project for many, many years, I thought I would give some final words. Put simply, I think this project is a mistake

I like to think that UTA will keep using this incorrect length Citylink render for so long, that Stadler will just build it that way and nobody will know 🤷‍♂️🥰
