this generation of game industry guys like Tim here have always fascinated me, because they may or may not have actually been artists at one point but they don't seem to have ever had much interest or curiosity towards art. their real primary function has been to be a sort of libertarian ideologue.
sincerely cannot imagine being this stupid or anti-art

Lrt the thing about very rich people is that they typically cannot imagine anything worse happening to them than being embarrassed or having to read opinions they don't like - typically becuase they are in a social bubble - and they center their entire worldview around maintaining this comfort

Speaking as someone who has helped run a business, is a programmer, went to journalism school, and isn’t a reactionary billionaire: Tim has a hard enough time forming rational opinions about the few things he does understand, and reviewing games isn’t one of them.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has defended AI following Eurogamer's 2/5 Arc Raiders review, which criticised the game's use use of AI voice generation. "AI dialog generation + human personality and tuning could totally transform gaming," Sweeney said.

For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Called and left messages for @klobuchar.senate.gov and @smith.senate.gov asking them to hold firm on the ACA
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

and the lesson progressives take away from this has to be helping northsiders organize. we can't send a bunch like, DSA people from the southside into north minneapolis to tell them how they should get organized. we have to listen to northsiders and understand this part of the city

Hi Minnesotan Bluesky:

The DFL has a well-known transphobia problem. I'm organizing to change the party platform in 2026 to be explicitly supportive of trans people in Minnesota. This will provide a basis for expelling transphobia from our party.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Tactical Breach Wizards is incredible. Very tight, satisfying combat puzzle-y combat, not to mention great world building and *genuinely more wonderful, laugh-out-loud* writing than I would have expected, and I say that as someone who already knew Tom to be a fantastic, hilarious writer.

By my admittedly rushed math, it seems like Fateh needs about 71% of the Davis/Jazz vote to break his way. Seems tough, but not impossible

So happy for NYC. Fuck yes.
But also if you could please send Minneapolis good vibes while we maybe collectively lose our minds for 48ish hours of ranked choice voting…that would be great.
