Same weird forester/forest ecologist/occasional essayist you knew from Twitter. Just a big damn squirrel specializing in regenerative forestry practices and encouraging old growth character

Known by some as "Gandalf" and "That God Damned Tree Wizard"

Be forewarned, I am deeply unserious about a great many things.

The epic corruption that grew up after the fall of the USSR provided epic looting opportunities. It taught the lesson to the West's predatory capitalists, one they already had experience with hedge funds and leverage buyouts. /1
Epstein, Thiel, and their buddies figured out, probably from observing the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union, that it's *much* easier to make a $ killing off preying upon a collapsing economy, than off a functioning, growing one.
This email between Epstein and JD Vance’s tech oligarch benefactor Peter Thiel where they plan to “collapse” society to create investment opportunities for themselves seems… not great

(They also met with the UN ambassador to Russia together)

Just need to share that J bred an awesome horse that she is going to own/ride forever, and when he was born it was a rule on the farm that year that the horses were named after NASCAR drivers…

And it’s kicking the a$$ of many other fancy horses…

And his name is “Ricky Bobby” and that’s perfect

i think this is what drives me nuts. people talk about how, say, the UN was founded by "starry eyed idealists" who didn't understand "reality." the truth is that the UN was founded by those who had just fought and *won* the bloodiest war in human history.

Do the 'pro-life' anti-vax folks understand that things like mumps won't just cause short term pain but can ultimately lead to infertility?
Measles is a bellwether. Because it’s the most contagious vaccine-preventable disease, when vaccination rates drop, it’s the first to start spreading.

Now we’ve got mumps rolling up.

Expect more.

This is just the beginning of RFK Jr.’s successful infectious disease reintroduction plan.

slavery is one of the rare things historically where the more you learn about it the more you realize your initial assessment was correct and it was in fact one of the most evil things ever to occur

So much of our present crisis is coddled, ignorant, and short sighted people tearing down the institutions that protect them because they don’t understand that bad things can happen.

If our Christianity causes the abused to be ignored, the stranger to be unwelcome, kids to go hungry, the sick to go without healthcare, and our planet to be disregarded all while billionaires get richer, we've profoundly misunderstood the most basic elements of Jesus' teachings.

I feel like it's a good time to restate that my rapist was never prosecuted by the Republican DA at the time for Tarrant County in Texas, who served for 3 decades. In fact he had some of the lowest prosecution rates for SA and rape cases. Republicans have always defended rapists and predators.
The complete refusal from the Department of Justice and FBI to investigate the allegations in the Epstein Files and made by Epstein survivors is also proof of what victims everywhere go through every day when authority figures refuse to do anything about what happened to them

While Kevin O'Leary -- who imagined himself a Canadian Donald Trump but was laughed out of the Conservative Party leadership race -- simps for Trump and sneers at his country, Arlene Dickinson, businessperson and the real star of Dragon's Den, tells it exactly as it is.
Seriously, you should read this. Great Canadian businessperson (and Dragons Den star) @arlenedickinson.bsky.social tells the blunt truth about Trump.
