The president just gathered the highest ranking officers in the military to tell them that he may order them to kill American citizens -- and that they better follow his orders. All in response to a series of crises that have no basis in reality.

I don't know how to yell any louder.

In a sane country with competent leadership, the 50 highest-ranking Democrats would call a press conference to denounce what just happened as a threat to the republic and demand Trump's immediate impeachment and removal from office.

I don't know he could make his intentions more clear.

Well, not if there's never another executive.
The president seeks action based on the notion that curbing the president's authority is a harm to the republic. Shouldn't that apply to the prior admin as well? Biden appointed Cook for a full 14 year term. Retroactively stripping his authority to do so, without cause, also damages the executive.

This is, sadly, going to prove deadly accurate.

On X, economist Heather Long says, "The U.S. now has more unemployed people than job openings for the first time since April 2021."

Correct.

And then cut/paste the process in other red states.
Oklahoma is already facing serious teacher shortages. These "exams" will make those gaps harder to fill. And in the process, they'll erode the state's public education system, achieving the real goal of pushing families into private and charter options and into homeschooling instead.
The "exam" was created by dangerous, right-wing, fascist groomer Prager U.

No the fuck he is not.

Trump is president because 30% of America doesn't vote and another 20% think it's a sports contest.
The bill may be Trump‘s, but Trump is president because of Joe Biden
I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

Indeed. ICE will transform into the modern Gestapo. Except worse, thanks to technology.
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Don't play semantic games. Call the shit what it is.
1) it was always fascism and fascism was the right word to use
2) they are building concentration camps and concentration camps are the right words to use
3) they are banning books and book bans is a fine way to describe the myriad ways they are banning them

I like Senator Wyden, but it's cute how he thinks there's still a "take turns" avenue existent in the future.

The orange conman isn't leaving until he keels over, and the notion that the remaining people in charge are willing to be voted out is ludicrous.
Republicans are getting what they paid for: a court willing to cede its power to an executive but only if a Republican is in power. But Democrats will retake power, and John Roberts is all but guaranteeing that Trump’s Supreme Court will barely outlast the Trump administration.
there is no jurisprudence at work here. the republican court believes that anything a republican president is presumptively constitutional, even if it directly violates the unambiguous constitutional text and causes total chaos in law and policy.

Yes.
States' rights has always meant "we will do what we want in our states, and you will do what we want in your states."

Journalists keep asking me, baffled, “What’s the Trump administration really trying to do to the science agencies?”

So I say “They are trying to destroy them. Cut off their funding, ruin their facilities, harass their staff into leaving.”

It’s not reform, and it never was. It’s destruction.
