Christian, American, liberal, geoist. Big fan of compassion and taxing rents. Not a fan of oathbreakers or NIMBYs.

Everything in politics is now secondary to preserving our Constitution.
Howdy, neighbor! Scott Brown, right next door here

My not-actually-brother-in-Christ, you have described a parliamentary democracy, which you are not! What is Keir Starmer but Charles III’s “advisor”, chosen by the will of the people?

Hypocrisy is the tribute vice pays to virtue.

I asked them how their economy would get by if clean energy made oil obsolete, and the speaker basically talked around the question.

My friend went for the jugular, and asked why they’re not a democracy. The speaker confabulated some nonsense about the king’s advisors listening to the people.

In high school, I took a weeklong field trip to DC, and one of the events was a visit to the Saudi embassy, where we had a Q&A with a high ranking diplomat. Little trolls that we were, my friend and I decided to ask them highly embarrassing questions.

my hot take is that all of the founding fathers would be less shocked by black people and women getting to vote than they would be by a majority-Catholic SCOTUS that regularly determines national policy. they would think we had been conquered by Spain

Karoline Leavitt is the female version of the worst person you ever met at college.

Source: my sister-in-law’s best friend was her RA in college. She literally was that.

I never understood the idolization of Malcolm X. What did he actually achieve? He spent most of his career saying white people were literally the devil, and as soon as he reneged on that, his own former coreligionists branded him an apostate and murdered him.

Markey is a doddering old fool.

I met him on a high school field trip in March 2017, when Republicans were gearing up to repeal Obamacare. I asked him why he opposed Paul Ryan’s American Healthcare Act. He didn’t recognize the name of the bill.

Worth noting here that two of the Senators who caved on the ACA shutdown - Kaine and King - explicitly cited fears that Republicans would nuke the filibuster as part of their reasoning for caving. Not clear at all that Republicans can get to 50+1 on that with most of the government functioning.

Pretty much the best conceivable scenario for Democrats in 2029 is a smaller Senate majority than Obama had for half of his Presidency.

Is this the most openly racist administration since Andrew Johnson, and the most openly racist administration capable of implementing its policies since Buchanan? Cleveland allowed Jim Crow to form and Wilson segregated the federal government, but generally the hate and the violence came from below.
and it’s what the redeemers would have done had they been in charge of the federal government

Maduro is not a Putin or a Chavez. (Or a Trump, for that matter.) He's not some machiavellian genius or charismatic autocrat at the center of a personalistic regime. He's a former bus driver who inherited a consolidated autocracy built by Chavez. He's a front man for a mafia state.
