I had this on pre-order, but only now got around to reading it. I enjoyed it so much! Rachel and Hope are good people to hang out with, and I needed a fun book to get me through (/gestures wildly) all this.

Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.

There's a guide I read at some point for writers about how to not use this shit, and one of the points it makes is that you can just use a word that describes the ACTUAL behavior.
The actual description of what they do is never the developmental slur that you want to use.
