"God don't like ugly", and yes, when we said it, we meant on the inside:
This is so real that it took me a few seconds to understand that someone might not naturally know that being ugly (physically) and being ugly (spiritually) are two separate concepts - never occurred to me that might be a Southern thing. Is it even?

FAFO [hilarious]
The minimum sound level for a ship horn at 1 meter distance for a ship >200m is 143dB. For a vessel less than 200m but larger than 75m it should be a minimum of 138dB. She didn't expect that... 😅

Short thread on the newest Wayward Children book (if you haven't yet started the series, this is a GREAT time to treat yourself; you *will* thank yourself for doing so). As always, *excellent* stuff. (Transparency: I'm the series copyeditor, so you could easily say I'm biased, but there's a REASON.)
GATES OF GARNET AND GOLD comes out tomorrow, and takes us back to the story of Nancy Whitman and her days in the Halls of the Dead. As this is an odd-numbered book, it takes place *after* EVERY HEART A DOORWAY: she's already been sure. She's gone home. So why are we seeing her again?

For those not playing the home game, I've been fortunate to be able to work nap-taking into my standard daily schedule, so my tendency to get insufficient sleep has been more blunted the past year or so. I usually set a just-in-case alarm on my phone when I lie down to try to nap, but I forgot to

BINGO. Do this and bring back "weird."
"If you want to know who took all of your money, it's the people with all of the money."

I keep thinking about this post and how it's one of the best, most succinct messages Democrats could use in 2026 campaigns.
If you want to know who took all of your money, it's the people with all of the money. Famously, we know that's people working in child care.

CE had been observing HHS shenanigans under this regime long enough to realize that it was *not* an error, simply a statement of fact.
