Even though I have a bunch of new books, the current state of affairs means I need comfort reading. Which means @victoriagoddard.bsky.social's books Petty Treasons, A Game of Courts, Hands of the Emperor, and Portrait of a Wide Sea Islander. Ahhhhhhh.

I'm spending a lot of time in waiting rooms lately, so I managed to read all three seasons of @lilithsaintcrow.com's Hood. Which is a fun retelling of Robin Hood --- In Space! Well done and well enjoyed.

Still working on @paulcornell.bsky.social's Lychford series, having finished the audio book of A Long Day in Lychford. Our three witches get thrown across the unseen border and spend a day returning, with various innocent bystanders in tow. I like these quirky characters.

Also finished reading @tkingfisher.com's newish book, Hemlock & Silver. I always enjoy reading her fractured fairy tales, because they come at the story from an angle that I don't expect. Of course once I finish, I think "So why didn't I think of that before!"

I zipped thru @caseyjohnston.bsky.social's A Physical Education in two days. (I had planned on three, because I'm giving the book to my daughter for her birthday today!) I enjoyed this book a lot and it may even get me to go to the gym with my kid. LOL

Also read @poopraven.bsky.social's Jack of Thorns this week. What do an American florist and an English aristocrat have in common? More than they think! I enjoyed spending time with Laurence and Quentin and look forward to reading more of their story. More English folklore - you know I can't stop!

Tore thru @seananmcguire.bsky.social's newest October Daye novel, Silver and Lead. After the excitement of the last three books, this one is a little more laid back. Still extremely satisfying, but I'll need to reread it again more carefully soon.

Finished the second audio book in @paulcornell.bsky.social's Witches of Lychford series, The Lost Child of Lychford. An enjoyable look at how traditional English folk lore might interact with the modern day. And a reminder that the Fair Folk are not the only otherworldly beings who might do so.

More English folklore with @paulcornell.bsky.social's Witches of Lychford as an audiobook. Well done, and looking forward to the next in the series.

Then another Charm of Magpies world book: Jackdaw. This book focuses on one of the minor characters in the original trilogy. It shows what can happen when magic practitioners fall through the cracks.

Read @julietemckenna.bsky.social's The Green Man's Heir over the long weekend. Very interesting use of traditional English folklore in a modern setting. Best of all, there are 7 more books in the series!
