Looks like the Russians are desperate to keep air defense systems out of Ukraine. Its the only rational motive for this kind of provocation.
2/ Officials continue to report aerial incursions in Belgian airspace.

I'm sorry, if you think *Chuck Schumer* has the ability to orchestrate a grand Jewish conspiracy you have in fact drunk deep of the waters of antisemitism, the man is a Schmuck.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

"hey remember having affordable healthcare" is a good message to keep hammering home to the idiot median voter in 26, and glonzoism on subsidies probably helps

Unfortunately the idiots on this site have the opposite problem where they have become convinced glonzo is very much real

Watching the Will and Cait show (leave poor Adonis out of it)... and the big poasters are not alright. This DARVO chain has got to stop. But apparently y'all don't like having manageable blood pressure.

Does this mean the house vote is shaky? *stares intensely at tea leaves and chicken entrails*

OK, so SNAP *is* funded through FY 2026 - its just covered under S. 116-118, especially 118(c) and not under S. 111 as I'd originally thought.

I blame the two weeks of fluctuating rain migraines.

Really think y'all need to learn what leadership "giving cover" to defectors looks like. It looks like them providing *extra* votes to mask who the real defectors are! What we got last night was a bare minimum group of moderates and the GOP frantically looking for John Cornyn to seal the vote.

"actually there were like twenty D senators who secretly wanted to cave"

wow seems like you must think Chuck Schumer did a pretty good job keeping people onside this long then?

This is a decent zoom-out view of the situation.

I think a lot of you just don't realize how catastrophic the premium increases will be! Or how valuable "we shut the government down for a month and a half to try and prevent this" will prove once that pain hits!
I don't hate it even if it is Schumer sacrificing pawns to turn SNAP and the Federal government back on. We have to do this again in January after voters have all had to pay the new ACA premiums or become uninsured.

Best take of the night award goes to Pierce
In other words Senate Republicans saw the results this week & opted to throw Vought under the bus to preemptively protect themselves for a few months & opted to betray Trump by negotiating instead of nuking the filibuster like he keeps demanding & they could’ve done at any time to end the shutdown.
The RIFs language is actually great. Not only does it rehire the people RIFed during the shutdown, it makes it an unequivocal Antideficiency Act violation to do ANY MORE RIFs through the duration of the CR (Jan 30)

Completely stops Trump/Vought Phase 2 for now

Would love to see this standardized

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Inside me are two wolves.

That said - when I thought SNAP funding went past the CR end date, I was more supportive of this. As is, this is just caving on holiday publicity when they should be using it.

Most of these aren't surprising - tightly contested swing states that want to be seen doing something.

But Tammy Baldwin and Dick freakin' Durbin should be ashamed and have no excuse.
