Having the discussion without stating how much the city is giving to the LAPD completely undermines the actual source of the anger by trying to bury it with semantics. When you say “actually they got like 20-30 million in the end” when the LAPD got 2.4 BILLION, you sound so stupid to me.
Put another way. The head of the LAFD can say, truthfully “we had budget cuts” and express concerns about impact of readiness and the mayor and council can say, truthfully “we gave the FD millions more than the previous year.”
