Jesus Christ. This platform has been great (because of the users, not the mods/admins) but this is fucked up on several levels. Is there a better platform we should be considering moving to?
If you weren’t aware, these are who handle 90% of mod decisions.

Here’s a Glassdoor salary from nairobi, about 10k-12k a year and skews high bc its mostly not entry levels submitting.

Almost every bad mod decision arises out of the primordial ooze of being a broke ass.

The media being complicit in this coverup is something I kinda already knew about but it is still enraging

Thomas Massie to CNN on the Epstein files: "This vote is gonna be on your record for longer than Trump is gonna be president. And what are you gonna do in 2028 and 2030 when you're in a debate … and they say, 'How can we trust you? You covered up for a pedophile back in 2025.'"

Also, just a reminder, anyone emailing Epstein regularly after 2008 knows he's been convicted of felonies related to sex with minors.

The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Assume all the yes and no votes from Dem senators are strategic and not sincere votes. The party caucus made a decision. No way to know how many were in favor. Then the caucus decided who would vote yes and no based on what would protect each of them politically the most. That’s how this works.

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

hope it doesn’t happen here! But it’s just contrary to history to say it doesn’t happen.

not enough chatter about how frequently members fly and how attacking airport capacity directly affects them in a way that cutting SNAP does not

Yeah, but that was before air travel was in trouble and the senators were personally affected, see
if they were going to cave anyway they should’ve done it a week ago to spare SNAP recipients the agony.

We polled Indivisible members over the weekend on whether Dems should take a deal or keep fighting for the ACA subsidies. Results: 98.67% said keep fighting.

Dems who vote to surrender now are fracturing their own party in a way that will reverberate loudly in the primaries.
So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.
