Washington D.C. observer John Heilemann: It's only a matter of time before retired & active-duty military personnel turn on Trump. Hegseth focusing on Mark Kelly could be the straw that broke the camel’s back within the military ranks.

Yes please!

Personally I think it should be illegal for bike/scooter-share companies to have their workers park devices at public racks. There are so many places in #sacramento that I like to ride my bicycle to only to arrive and struggle to find a space to park as every rack is filled with Lime scooters.

The thing most likely to turn me into the fucking Joker is the fact that all of this shit works but we don't do it in the USA because a tiny group of noisy and unqualified people just say "but it won't work here" and our politicians just go "well, I guess they must know what they're talking about"
In the Netherlands, over 40% of rail passengers arrive by bike. Since 2012 the country has invested €400m+ to add 200,000 new bike parking spaces at stations. The result? More rail use, fewer car trips, lower congestion and emissions, better public health - and far more efficient use of urban space.

I cannot stress this enough.

We do not need any of this.

We got on FINE even in the tech age WITHOUT ANY OF THIS

The only things in your home that need microphones are your phone and your webcam and NONE OF IT should have an "opinion"
Up next: all the crappy devices being infused with ChatGPT and other chatbots.

The last thing you want is for your nieces and nephews to have “sensual” chats with an AI teddy bear or your grandpa losing his mind because he’s spent hours talking to an AI “friend.”

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.

It's baffling that we allow private companies to use public infrastructure as their R&D lab, externalizing the risk onto the public, while they fine tune their unproven software.

I like this. Do this.
Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

We also need electeds and policymakers at the helm who truly understand the role rail plays in solving almost every single major crisis facing Californians today. The current rail plan is great compared to previous plans but it's only a starting point. We need to be faster and more ambitious!

🚄💨
Not only is 3% of CA's transportation budget for transit agencies, the vast majority of that huge Caltrans budget supports highway projects - while rail gets the scraps. We need a #JustTransitionForCaltrans that shifts those workers into delivering green rail projects quickly and cost effectively.

I was diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder (at the time it was Aspergers) as a teen. I came out of the closet in high school. I studied urban planning and work for a DOT. There are people who have been in my life from the day I was born who voted for this admin.

They are no longer in my life.
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

The #fossilfuel industry is the single largest cause of human-driven #climatechange. When we look at atmospheric CO2 graphs and point out where the industrial revolution begins, it's not because factories fed workers food that made them super gassy 🤦

WHY ARE FOSSIL FUEL LOBBYISTS ALLOWED AT COP?

A friendly reminder that when you brew coffee, what you're doing is drawing out oils as well as dissolved solids.

Plant oils go rancid over time except when polymerized (like on a carbon steel or cast iron pan)

So if you don't clean your moka pot after using, you're just building up rancid oils.

Properly designed bike infrastructure doubles as an emergency access lane, allowing first responders to bypass gridlocked car traffic.

This completely nullifies the argument that bike lanes are a safety risk for response times. But it only works if you build them wide enough to be functional.

As someone who actually does like to dress up to fly but realizes how stupid/risky it is, the idea that you think -sane- people should want to arrive with drink/food/puke on their best clothes, let alone those clothes requiring a full press and possibly starch to be presentable is...a lot.
Trump's Transportation Secretary on how to improve air travel:

"People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly... We want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season, help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

I am very firmly of the belief that we are being prevented from moving forward by this kind of...restraint? The idea that things must be done a certain way according to tradition "just because" is poison to Democracy imo so yeah, I don't care if you're in tux/gown at a ball: you call this shit out.
