Decriminalizing sex work would ALSO help against many of the criminal abuses I'm glad to see so many caring about of late.

A great example of a media (and a newspaper) that isn't fit for purpose. When your framing of a story is this disingenuous, you are choosing to side with the abuser.
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

You know what would have fixed this? Universal healthcare and UBI. Plus supportive housing for at least homeless CHILDREN.

And this is why rich and powerful men don’t want us to have those things. Poor young people are prey to them.

This is exactly why sex workers rights activists have been screaming that the best way to prevent people from being exploited in the first place is to offer them safety and security and access to basic needs.

The fewer the resources one has, the more vulnerable one becomes

If only our society took major crimes by rich people as seriously as minor crimes by poor people. Ideally more seriously. But as seriously would be a big improvement.

This shit is crazy, just the rumor of Drake liking lil girls or being weird with em was enough to change his entire reputation in the Black community.

But in the white community, these muhfuckas are OPENLY giving cover to KNOWN pedos.

HOW CAN I TRUST Y'ALL????

It’s never ever ever about really making people safe.

To be clear, you should NOT choke people, that’s a VERY dangerous thing to do.

But this is not going to protect a single person. Only harm.
Hidden in the controversial about UK "choking ban" proposal are a host of even more egregious proposals that could:

* make camming illegal
* redefine escort ads as pimping
* render model contracts unenforceable
* criminalize discussions of teen sexuality

And a whole lot more ...
Moral panic about rough sex gives way to censorship in the UK
British regulators and lawmakers are hot on a measure that would make possessing or publishing strangulation porn a crime.

As reflected in today’s news, the rightwing basically feels there’s no way for a woman to exercise any of her innate sexual agency without it being A THREAT to them.
The only acceptable use of a woman’s sexuality is: if she’s being exploited against her will by people who have power over her.

It is interesting how whenever I raise Bernie's (frankly terrible) record on immigration, people who call themselves leftists immediately jump into my mentions and start spewing right wing anti-immigrant talking points.

Let me be absolutely clear:

I love how some of the responses to the calling churches for baby formula TikTok lady is people saying with a straight face, 'well, you have to be careful because grifters'.

You think grifters ask for a single small can of baby formula?

You think Jesus would ask for proof of poverty?

In addition to the ACA disaster, in the past week I've gotten email from my chiropractor telling patients they won't be continuing to accept Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, and from my Lyme specialist saying they'll no longer accept Aetna or Providence plans.

What the FUCK are we doing here people?

For what it's worth, I do basically agree that even pretty good Dem Senators (e.g. Booker) should face a strong primary challenge

Some of them may end up deserving to win those primaries! But they should still have to face them

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

Cruelty is the point with this administration. They hate the poor and they don’t want to hide that fact.
NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...
