Understanding Trump means grasping that he sees our government and our country the way private equity sees a company it takes over. You crack it open, extract all the value from it as fast as you can, line your pockets with it, and walk away.

If it means nothing to you, destroying it is irrelevant.
This is happening right now. I guarantee you he said "you know I will do absolutely everything and anything I don't care what happens to my country and you know it"
Q: Are Greenland's limits going to be respected?

TRUMP: Well we're gonna see what happens with Greenland. We need Greenland for national security. If we don't go in Russia is gonna go in & China is gonna go in. And there's not a thing that Denmark can do about it. But we can do everything about it

A thing I taught when I was a UNH Digital Comms professor is the idea that our feeds are now digital homes. If you wouldn’t—as a total stranger—BURST INTO SOMEONE’S ACTUAL HOME and have your first words to them EVER be what you are about to post, don’t say it. Or prepare to get thrown out (blocked).

One interesting element to this very thin story is that it was leaked to CBS and not Fox.

It's possible that DHS thinks CBS still has a shred more credibility and so the story would get more uptake.

It's also remotely possible that Fox got this tip and said, "Nah, we'll pass."

But also because it’s a huge feature of all systemic problems in America to make the most affected responsible for convincing everyone they deserve safety, by carrying a technological device to surveil themselves

It is in no way “law enforcement” to beat up an American 10th grader and steal and sell his possessions.
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

When we say "explicitly neo-Nazi" we mean channels that fly swastikas and praise Hitler. That's the zone of internet where DHS is apparently finding inspiration for their X posts. It's ultra unlikely they would have ever encountered that song if they weren't in that space, imo.
Our researchers found at least 450 posts on Telegram dating back to 2020 that shared the song mentioned in this reporting.

Nearly all the posts we found were from explicitly neo-Nazi and white supremacist channels. And a review of our datasets found it hasn't circulated much outside those circles.

The punitive attacks against this great state continue.
BREAKING: DOJ is suing Minnesota over its state hiring policies, asserting that its affirmative action programs violate Title VII.

Notably, the AG is seeking a three-judge district court panel (which would include one Eighth Circuit judge) for the case.

This article is a must-read. It matches my own experience of seeing conservative judges go from often siding with trans plaintiffs prior to 2021 to being outwardly hostile. Judges don't live in a hermetically sealed chamber. They absorbed anti-trans propaganda.

How the Conservative Movement’s Anti-Trans Crusade Brought the Supreme Court to Heel
Six years ago, the Court issued a landmark decision protecting the civil rights of trans people. Republicans set about making sure that that would never happen again.

it's very clear that this is a template for how they're going to approach other cities

they do not and will not have enough people to do it everywhere all at once but if you live in a city there's a very good chance that an occupying army will show up at your door in the next few years
I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

Pondering how AI is taking us back to mid-1990s “Dark Forest” Internet safety guidelines being correct:

- assume nobody is who they say they are
- don’t reveal anything about yourself
- everyone is out to get you until proven otherwise
- don’t believe anything you see online without verification

the constitution has many flaws but addressing our current circumstances is not among them; the framers were in fact quite concerned about this kind of thing and were clear that it should not happen here

what they did not and could not guard against is the people in charge ignoring their plain text
As it happens though, the framers of the US constitution did say it: in the 4th amendment, the 5th, the 10th, etc.

What they didn’t provide for is federal immigration enforcement of any kind, only “a uniform rule of naturalization.” Nor did they give the federal government a plenary police power.
It goes without saying that in the US you’re not supposed to have a masked secret police that snatches people off the streets without knowing if they’ve committed a crime. That’s about as basic a requirement for a democracy as exists.

I suspect Peltola was more persuaded by VA and NJ results in 2025 than by anything schumer said. 1
