My goal as a parent was always to raise better men than me

I just received a video from one son of my other son juggling dildos outside the Whipple Building

There are many things I could have done better but I can't really argue with the results

Call me old-fashioned, but I do not think gov't agencies should omit alt texts from their images—even, yes, the silly posts.

(Alt: large snow pile at the side of a road with an ominously dark, jagged-edged hole in the middle. It's also blocking a curb ramp, which does add to the forebodingness….)
Call me old-fashioned, but I do not think snowbanks should exude a palpable sense of evil or have large, steaming mouths

It took a week and a half for the walkways around Malcolm X Park to get cleared, and that's better than many other critical NPS sidewalks.

16th NW btwn Piney Branch bridge & Arkansas Ave is also untouched—despite DC DPW (or someone) having cleared at least one sidewalk on the bridge itself.
This is the route through Benjamin Banneker Park from the L’Enfant Plaza metro station to The Wharf.

Our next mayor needs to change how we handle maintenance of NPS property during winter *unilaterally.*

DC needs to shovel this stuff, because NPS will *never* do it. Fuck them, keep a running tab.

Man, a lot of you are not using alt text lately. I see something super interesting that I want to repost, but just don't because the alt text is not there.

Also, if you post a screenshot of a news story and don't include a link in the thread or a citation, I am not reposting it.

Happy to see some wins for DC in a hopeless time on the Hill — and especially $250k for the installation of solar-powered bike docks for @bikeshare.bsky.social 🥳

Thank you @eleanornorton.bsky.social!
I secured over $10M in funding for projects throughout DC in the final FY 26 THUD bill signed into law and nearly $15M overall in FY 26.

These investments will improve our parks, public safety, and infrastructure throughout the District.

Wtf.
An interesting fact: D.C. has already received 18,000 individual tax returns and 300 corporate returns. The Republican resolution repealing the city's tax law passed the House today, and if it passes the Senate and is signed by the president, many of those returns will have to be redone.
A Republican-led resolution could trigger tax season chaos, potentially pushing D.C.'s filing deadlines into the fall, depriving the city of almost $700 million in revenue, and eliminating tax credits for low-income residents. 51st.news/republican-b...

It's timeeeee!! One of the most wonderful weeks of the year is here! Whether you've never played, you live in DC or somewhere else, or you've played before, #TranspoBingo is for everyone! Can't wait to get into shenanigans this week 🤓
🎉 It’s officially time for #TranspoBINGO 2026! Let's play our way through the city! 🎉
We’re playing from Feb 5–12, rewarding non-car travel—buses, Metro, biking, walking, and rolling. Take different kinds of trips, explore our city (and region!), and support public and active transportation.

Journalists have critical skills we need! BUT don't blame "people" and "consumers" for this loss. Bezos killed the Post by: deciding not to pay its workers, offending readers by running his personal opinions, & hiring management that hates reporters. "Consumers" aren't the problem; billionaires are.
this. a lot of people don't get how difficult good reporting is, especially investigative journalism. it takes years of practice to build up the necessary skillset, and it often requires supporting infrastructure. yet the pay for 99% of reporters out there is abysmal
journalists are workers who deserve to be paid fairly for our labor and I think that far too few consumers of media recognize or even care about this fact

#MBTpubroll is joining forces with #TranspoBINGO tomorrow! Starting 5:30pm at Takoma Station Tavern for your 1st bingo square then biking down the MBT to Metrobar for your 2nd. If bike lanes are icy and unsafe, our alterative is to "roll" down via Metro train. Come one, come all, come pub roll 🚲🚇🍻
We’re red line 🔴 to green line 🟢 to Shaw Library 📚 for improv 🎭to a local business 🍸 to karaoke 🎶 to bus 🚌 as we share pre-release copies of the #TranspoBINGO 2026 board before it goes live. Thanks to our supporters/sponsors Washington Improv Theater and District Karaoke for hosting tonight!

The big tech founder whose 417-foot, $500 million superyacht needs a 256-foot, $75 million superyacht to "shadow" it -- because the bigger yacht lacks a helipad -- had to cut his paper's newsroom almost in half, for reasons
NEWS: The cuts were so severe that at least one department head asked to leave The Post rather than be included in the planning.

Peter Finn, The Post's international editor, requested that he be laid off once he learned about the scope of the cuts to his section.
