I am so furious right now.

AGs across the country fought to get SNAP benefits.

Federal workers suffered with weeks of no pay.

Millions of people showed up to protest Trump.

Democrats showed up in record numbers at the polls to say 'we've got your back!'

And you caved for literally nothing.

If you are a Senate Democrat and you just watched your party base crush election night and put 7 million people in the streets for No Kings and your response in this moment is to cave in on the shutdown, you should immediately resign. Just get out of the way.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Laverne Turner knocking Brenda Short out of the top 5 really cost my fantasy team some points.

Minneapolis: Oh, gosh, that’s tempting, and it does look like the rest of the country is enjoying themselves. Good things do sound nice, but geez, let’s not get carried away. None for us, thanks. 😕

Good morning to everyone going to the polls today to elect a new Minneapolis mayor!

If you were wondering how the looming AI bubble was going to take down other industries and maybe the whole damn economy with it, here’s a blindingly stupid example. The agencies that are supposed to protect us from this kind of galaxy-brain greed have been defunded.

Really enjoyed Swervedriver at the Turf Club. Those guys know a thing or two about layering guitar sounds to really build a song.

Of all the noteworthy things @jimmykimmellive.bsky.social has done this week, having @livingcolour.com on to play “Cult of Personality” was the best.

Incredible women’s bouldering final in Seoul this weekend. Oriane totally in control until boulder 4, Janja did superhuman Janja things, and Melina surprised everyone by getting Team USA on the podium.
WOMEN'S BOULDER FINALS (World Climbing Champs)

🥇 Janja Garnbret (Slovenia) - 99.5
🥈 Oriane Bertone (France) - 85.0
🥉 Melina Costanza (USA) - 59.8

It came down to the very last hold on the very last boulder. What a competition.

Love people sharing Mitch Hedberg’s escalator joke. “Sorry for the convenience” is such a great response to whiny conservative grievance politics, generally. Not just about temporary stairs!

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

I understand the intended Beatles reference, but when I see billboards for the Paul McCartney “Got Back” tour, the voice I hear in my head is Sir Mix-a-lot, not Sir Paul, and it makes me giggle every time.

After the appalling way ICE treated South Korean workers at the Hyundai plant in Georgia, and the US messed with South Korean climbers’ visas before the Salt Lake World Cups, it’ll be interesting to see how team USA is received in Seoul for IFSC world championships.

Walgreens on East Lake Street has vaccination appointments online for today, but their pharmacy is closed on Saturdays. Don’t waste your time with that.

Catching up on this weekend’s #IFSC world cups. The DJ in Koper, Slovenia is inexplicably using Aerosmith’s “Rag Doll” as the walk-on music for every lead climber in the semi-finals.
