this is incredibly frustrating. By framing this as a policy demand Dems are aiding a disinformation campaign that is intended to confuse the public about what is constitutionally required.
This is literally what CURRENT LAW requires. It’s in the Constitution! www.politico.com/news/2026/02...

Even if ICE was abolished, there should be a full reckoning (ie never elected again) who didn't call for its abolition. Anyone short of the full-dismantling the gestapo should never hold elected office again. Call em, tell em. They are scared of us, terrified even, if enough say the same thing
Everyone needs to say in one voice we will primary you if you don't support abolishing ice

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but all drones of any size should require an operator license and do not belong anywhere near any kind of park or private residence

The choice to frame this rhetorically as a negotiation *with ICE and DHS* rather than, you know, a decision about their future made by their rightful superiors in the popularly elected legislature is, to me, incredibly grating.
Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.

We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking.

If you think that social signaling is “cringe* (and therefore useless), I invite you to ask yourself *why.* Does public sincerity make you uncomfortable?

Or are you afraid of standing out/looking silly in front of your disapproving peers? Because if so, I have terrible news about me being right.

people who say that all creative endeavor can be replaced with AI probably need to reckon with the fact that all televised sports events with human athletes could easily be replicated by high-definition computer-animated simulations….and yet we don’t do this and no one seems to want to.

Of all the easy things you can do to help the environment, conserve water for communities not corporations, not perpetuate scams, support the labor and rights of creators... *not* using generative AI is the fucking easiest. You absolutely deserve to be shamed for using it for image and text creation

Veblen only called it "Theory of the Leisure Class" because he predated Wallace Stegner. If he had the benefit of another eighty years, he could have called his book "Anglo of Repose."

People keep saying Bezos wrecked the Post on purpose but he could have just done that if he wanted to, no need to drag it out for years. I think he and his fellow traveler billionaires have thoroughly cooked their worldview and honestly believe there is a vast, silent, ignored right wing audience

A human writer uses a dash to set off a relatively abrupt jump in thought. But the machines are constantly calculating the most predictable next thing to say, plodding around the same area. So the machine dash looks like it's gesturing toward something new, only to always land on something obvious.
At first I didn't understand why people were holding forth about how an em dash—a totally normal and human piece of punctuation—was an obvious tell that an AI wrote something. But eventually I figured it out.
That's not just an em dash—it's the AI Voice em dash

Tear gas and needs to be banned. There is actually zero appropriate use case for it.
Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com

I’ll second this! I’ve boycotted Amazon since 2014 and my life has not been meaningfully made any less convenient!
if you're thinking of dumping Amazon: do it. I haven't had an account for like six years and I've never missed it, not once
