+1. Great show, and Ethan Hawke’s charisma is off the charts even when he’s getting the shit kicked out of him by goons.
1. Watch The Lowdown, one of the best shows I've seen in quite some time.
2. Read Kathryn on The Lowdown, one of the best TV columns I've read in quite some time.
3. Profit.

wrote an essay about the lowdown, and how it can be hard to think about drama at a time when there never seem to be consequences for bad guys, and how the lowdown offers us a way out

Really wish a lot of smart commentators would pause for a moment and ponder the question: "Do the words coming from a white, blond, former CIA staffer get perceived VERY DIFFERENTLY than the SAME words uttered by a Black, Indian California attorney married to an entertainment lawyer?"

Republicans lost big this week, not Dems, so Ross had to find something to write about other than “Tuesday’s Results Prove Dems Must Move to Center.”
Because Times writers aren’t allowed to write columns arguing “Election Results Prove GOP Must Move to Center.”

Meta is the worst.
Meta earns $3.5 billion every six months from showing Faceboon and Instagram users 15 billion “higher legal risk” scam ad impressions a day, internal documents state.
That haul vastly exceeds how much the company expects regulators
To fine it for running scam ads.

Cuomo was a three-term Democratic New York governor and son of a liberal icon who was also a three-term Dem NY governor. He also had the support of much of the Dem establishment. Bill and Hillary Clinton, and New York’s two Democratic senators, almost certainly voted for him.

Can you imagine if the NBA had a rule that said opposing teams could choose to refuse to allow MJ or Steph Curry to shoot in the NBA Finals, with the whole world watching?

I believe this is exactly how public accountability should work - when a liar is called a liar.

Here’s a free link to a house editorial that illustrates the collapse of the new Washpost Opinion page.
It’s important to read it, because it is so poorly written and reasoned, and it shows how quickly an editorial institution can fall completely apart under spineless leadership.

This is a masterclass in repeating carefully workshopped robotic talking points that miss the forest for the trees and are irrelevant to the question at hand: Trump chose to build a ballroom instead of funding programs that would feed those kids.
GOV. WHITMER: “.. no one is worried about building a ballroom in Washington, D.C. What they want is to make sure that they can feed their kids next week.” Most Americans are “never going to step foot in a ballroom over the course of their lifetime.”

This is how Trump does everything. Reporting from reliable sources says he’s going to do something outrageous/ridiculous. He immediately claims it’s fake news. Then a few days or weeks later he does exactly what was originally reported.

They also stopped licensing their catalogues so they could platform popular and enduring shows exclusively on their own streaming services where no one can find them and they make money for nobody.
Americans want to watch charismatic people solve moderately difficult problems on a weekly basis. That’s it. And a group of fomo execs and techbros who don’t watch TV drove one of the most profitable industries in the US off a cliff rather than accept that.
Look what happenes when a TV show releases every year, with more than 8 episodes a season.
