Tim Kaine caved not because of the damage done to those impacted by the shutdown, but because *he* felt uncomfortable.
Tim Kaine on backlash he's getting: "I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct 1, b/c I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed fed worker would say to me at church, or what somebody would say about SNAP"

Donald Trump has a visceral hatred of those needing assistance — he’s received assistance and special treatment his entire fucking life.
President Trump criticized the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during a Fox News interview tonight, saying people "get it automatically now so the number is many times what it should be, it's disgraceful."
Trump says "we can reform" SNAP
"SNAP is supposed to be if you are down and out," Trump said on Fox News this evening.

Just the absolute dumbest person to ever be president.
INGRAHAM: “Your housing director proposed a 50 year mortgage. It has enraged MAGA - a giveaway to the banks.”

OUT OF TOUCH BILLIONAIRE TRUMP: “It’s not even a big deal… You go from 40 to 50.”

Let a single person feed their family with food stamps when they don't "deserve" the benefit and Republicans will be filled with such rage that they'll take away those benefits from millions of others.

Meanwhile the administration is doing this:

Republicans hate women — blocking gun control is yet another way their hatred leads to deadly consequences for women.

Homicide is the No. 1 way pregnant women die, research has showed, but a new study finds that they are even more vulnerable than other women of childbearing age when there’s a gun involved. https://cnn.it/49M5XLr

In a world where the incumbent president bowed to pressure and stepped aside, it doesn’t seem like such a monumental ask to switch minority leaders.

LOL. Donald Trump is the most easily manipulated president in history.
POLITICO: “.. The White House was blindsided by the idea, according to two people familiar with the situation .. and is now dealing with a furious backlash from conservative allies, business leaders and lawmakers.” 🤡

We deserve a Democratic Party that is willing to fight as hard as we are.

We need new leadership in this moment and to get there, we need a chorus of support for change. Tell your Democratic senators to call on Senator Schumer to step aside as Minority Leader. It’s time for drastic action.

This allows Trump (via DOJ) to use taxpayer money to bribe eight GOP Senators. It's that simple, there's no other way to describe it.

And where's the compensation for people injured by the Trump admin's unlawful conduct through DHS & DOGE?

Take a bow, @schumer.senate.gov, you did this.

Some Senate Democrats were so afraid of the filibuster being nuked by Republicans — and actually having to take dramatic moves if back in power with a Democrat in the White House — that they lessened the chance Republicans would end it.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

It’s time for Speaker Johnson to cut the ridiculous excuses and do his job. Adelita Grijalva won an election more than 6 weeks ago, and she still hasn’t been sworn in to represent more than 800,000 Arizonans. Read her op-ed:
I was elected 6 weeks ago. Speaker Mike Johnson refuses to swear me in.
Speaker Mike Johnson refuses to swear me into office, an unprecedented and starkly undemocratic position that sets a very dangerous precedent.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.
