Stumbled across video about early 1900s Manchester. All #AI, it's like a fever dream. The absurd narration ("If Manchester sneezes, the global textile market catches a cold") slips between various accents. Most of the visuals are insane: impossible equipment, vanishing objects, plus see Alt texts.

Archaeologists investigating a medieval church near Berlin found a bronze wheel cross from the early era of Christianization in Germany. It perfectly fits a mold that was discovered more than 40 years ago!

I'm seeing a lot of revisionist "Fuck Aaronofsky, I never liked him anyway" takes, which misses the point rather.
The guy who directed Pi, Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan - all very good films by any measure - used AI and this slop was the best he could come up with.

The odd thing about Aaronofsky is I watched Pi and Black Swan and thought he was an auteur with a genuinely unique vision, and then I saw Caught Stealing and it turns out the whole time he aspired to make one of those incredibly mid Tarantino/Guy Ritchie knockoff crime capers from the mid-90s.
I guess the thing that bakes my noodle the most about Aronofsky's boneheaded AI excursion is that AI shines when it is giving us the impossible over the mundane. It's hard to pay attention to shadows when Spongebob is stealing a car; but when it's two dudes talking, all you see are the mistakes.
