I am not kidding when I say this is idolatry and blasphemy. It is wicked and will prey on people Jesus loves. I call on the church to declare this anathema.

Sounds good to me! They can lift themselves up by their own bootstraps, just like they're always telling the rest of us to do.
Personally I think we should let the rich fail so they learn to stand on their own two feet

I think "Gilded Age 2.0" would be more like it.
“Jobs are booming” is Treasury Secretary-speak for “most-announced-job-cuts-for-a-full-year-since-2020.”

“Inflation is falling” is Treasury Secretary-speak for “inflation-is-at-an-eight-month-high.”

SNAP is a lifeline for food-insecure people and families, and it is also an indirect cash transfer to corporations, who get away with paying poverty wages bc they're able to outsource the social safety net to SNAP and other programs.
SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

In short: no
In long: No by any means and over my dead body. It’s exactly what Christofascists want. They want Mainline, moderate, and orthodox conservative voices to shut up and let their heresy be the sole voice of Christendom. This is the exact moment we must be extremely loud about who Jesus is
Honest. No hyperbole. I just listened to this cretin a second time. And
if I were a Christian in this American moment, I would be ashamed to ever admit it in public, my faith having been named, debased and dragged through the public sewers every other day.

Sorry.
Chip Roy: "The truth is the marxist, radicals, and Islamists the Democratic Party promoted this weekend, they cannot handle the truth. The truth is that there is a king and that king is Jesus. And the president has been willing to say it, & Charlie Kirk was willing to say it & he got killed for it."

Probably a mistake to have narcissistic billionaire children with petty-god complexes run the society and economy of a people taught from birth that empathy is evil and selfishness is patriotism.

If we’re renaming departments and calling the DOD the “Department of War”, we might as well go ahead and make the DOJ the “Department of Revenge”

This is something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately myself. The challenge for me is how to build time for Sabbath/rest/recuperation into my life, but I believe it will be well worth it.

The free speech activist who built a list of professors he worked to get fired for their speech must be celebrated for his support of free speech, and anyone who quotes his speech accurately in context will be fired and/or face state punishment by the champions of free speech, do I have that right?

Having followed Newsom since his political start in San Francisco, I agree 100%. Democrats can do much better than this Clintonesque triangulator.
I know we're all desperate for anyone at all to fight back against trump, but Newsom's not a hero, here. He's not even a good person. He's a transphobe & actively, proudly destroying tent shelter encampments *With His Own Hands*.

This is prime LetThemFight Dot Gif & we get to take down the winner.

Great news indeed! But we need a lot more of this sort of thing for workers to get what they truly deserve.
The Culinary Workers Union representing 60,000 hospitality workers in Nevada has achieved a historic victory on the Las Vegas Strip. For the first time in its 90-year history, all major casinos on the Strip are unionized.

100% agree. I lived in SF from 1996-2017 and can attest that taking transit and walking everywhere was a great quality of life for me! Really miss that now that I have to have a car to get anywhere.
I live in the middle of San Francisco. I walk and take public transportation everywhere daily, feeling perfectly safe. And every time someone starts ranting about how scary and dangerous cities are, I nod and smile because I do not want them to come here.

I just wouldn’t worship that sort of god. There are other, better things I could do with my time & devotion.

But the Good News is, thanks be to God, I don’t have to worship that sort of god at all. 2/2

I regularly shock (disgust?) some Christians when I say that I would simply not worship a god who is fully the one they describe.

A god I could imagine myself being more gracious or forgiving than.

A god that is tethered to ideas of retributive “justice” rather restorative justice…. 1/2
