About 3.2 million people live in Puerto Rico as of 2025, down from a peak of 3.8 million in 2004. One reason for Puerto Rico’s declining population is that more people are moving from the island to the mainland U.S. each year than in the other direction.
Puerto Rico has its own constitution but is also subject to federal law, like U.S. states. People born on the island are U.S. citizens, though residents can’t vote in federal elections and have very limited representation in Congress.

Last February, 60% of Republicans were confident that Trump “respects the country’s democratic values.” That share has declined to 52% today.

Last February, 60% of Republicans were confident that Trump “respects the country’s democratic values.” That share has declined to 52% today.
While confidence in Trump to act ethically in office was already relatively low last February, it has declined 8 percentage points over the past year. Nearly all of that drop has come from Republicans.

Americans express the least amount of confidence in him to act ethically in office. Just 21% are very or extremely confident he does this – 60% are not too or not at all confident.
