Another one to chalk up to Hollywood stereotypes, I suspect. Films and TV shows have been feeding us the "once successful writer struggling with writer's block" stereotype for decades.

I'm currently reading @edyong209.bsky.social's delightful book on animal senses, AN IMMENSE WORLD, and this scenario is precisely why giant squid have some of the best visual sensors on the planet (if they can't spot a whale heading towards them through dark water, this happens).
Just woke up from a social media pause and the first thing I see is an incredible footage of a sperm whale casually cruising with a giant squid in its mouth ??
