If anyone has emailed saying my company, Discoglobe, is hiring for a freelance position, THIS IS A SCAM. I think they are using LinkedIn connections to find names to manufacture a veneer of legitimacy.

appreciate this article breaking down a taxonomy of knowledge games (also, unfortunately, known as metroidbrainias)

Against 'Metroidbrania': a Landscape of Knowledge Games
What are knowledge games? How do we relate them to each other? What sub-genres exist – and which ones might be implied?

Many posts going around critiquing what some see as a general loss of reading comprehension/reading for fun, but it's worth remembering that LOTS of factors that can make reading difficult. For me it was a combo of migraine/adhd/eyesight for years. Anyhoo, see Stella's thread for book recos!
The reason I made this post is because I was severely cognitively addled for several years from PTSD medication, which made reading books very difficult! A writer who doesn’t read is like a chef that doesn’t eat! But I find the capacity has finally started to return. So I get it ❤️
Okay so one of the things that working in Healthcare during the pandemic did to my brain was somehow immolate the ease with which I read constantly and consistently. I really miss it. I'm just starting to get it back so this trend of books that blew your mind is really helping so thanks bluesky.

The STM maintenance workers have announced an end to their month-long work slowdown (buses and metros run at rush hour and late night only) -- which is very convenient for people!

But they're only doing it before a new government law forces them into arbitration -- which is bullshit.

Good job, past me who made soup and froze it for a snowy day.

My take on resurrecting bond is good for them, making Bond a news item while nothing is being released and no one was thinking about it. Bond would definitely remain dead without buzz.

Heart goes out to both attendees and organizers of MIGS & Mtl Games Week. Seemed like this was a year ppl were more invested in making it a bigger thing but between the surprise foot of snow and the transit strike, it’s going to be tough.

the secret about local elections is that they’re basically sports events. a lot of people can be radicalized and plugged in at scale by being part of a “team” and invested in that team’s success. and investment can be as common sense as “the candidate thinks the government should help people”

ha! I was just listening to an old interview with Douglas Adams about Hitchhiker's and he says explicitly his style is directly influenced by Winnie the Pooh. I've been saying this for years, ever since i read to my kids as an adult and thought, wait a minute, I've seen this before
