So far I've made some debug tools and this UI mock-up to see how well I can get status info for six player to fit on a single 128 pixel Pico-8 screen row.

I've been somewhat obsessed with Pico-8 since I did a three hour game-jam/tutorial with Adam Saltsman (adamatomic.com) a couple weeks ago and have decided a six player real time local versus game would be a good first project. 😅

Two of our three fans broke just before it got really hot.

I've rehabilitated this one with cardboard, two kinds of tape, and jars of honey for ballast.

The external switch is also missing but you can reach into the case and flip the much smaller switch it was controlling.

If you need more than one additional year, ISOs for various Windows LTSC (long term service channel) releases can be found at massgrave.dev/windows_ltsc....

They require an Enterprise license... or some other way to appease the Windows KMS (key management services) 😉

You’ve been murdered. Who do you want on the case?

What can I say. They get results.

Do you ever search for new music by making up a song name and then checking to see if it exists?

Geometry Wars Galaxies.

Played this for like 10 hours on a cross country bus trip.

Actually kind of ruined me for other twin stick shooters. Turns out a stylus is much better than a thumb stick for quick and accurate 360 aiming.

DS has a cleaner less noisy vibe than the TV console versions.

Just got reminded that Gridlock'd exists. I remember liking it a lot when I watched it in '97. I should get hold of a copy and see if it holds up.

Though I'm guessing I'd hate that d-pad if I had to use it today, I played through all the Commander Keens on one of these and loved it.

The Gravis gamepad was godsend for a kids with a family PC who weren't allowed a game console.

A lot like this documentary.

But with rat intercourse instead of murder.

It's an open faced sandwich on light sourdough rye bread. Toppings are layered peanut butter, granola, honey, and a few dark chocolate chips.

And it's good!

I thought about adding a final layer of whipped cream but I was too lazy and maybe it would be a bit much?

Since both my spouse and I are working the holidays making sure people can buy comics and graphic novels [support your local book store!], I was home alone on Christmas.

So, I got high, watched movies, and maybe invented a new dessert?

He's not joking. The weight gave me these on my fore arms even through a flannel and a sweatshirt.

I have weirdly warm feelings about a lot of things from the turn of the millennium and often need to remind myself that a lot of shit was really fucked up. Often in ways that have continued to this day.

There’s no harm in believing the the best music ever made was released when you 17.6 years old. Just remember, your personal sense that there was a historic moral and political peak during your youth is likely a quirk of human psychology not useful evidence to guide your principles and actions.

Nostalgia is powerful and predictable.

"The consistency of the resulting pattern delighted us: It shows that Americans feel nostalgia not for a specific era, but for a specific age."

The view flying out of Tokyo.

I've been back in Canada for a bit but surprisingly extreme jet lag didn't make be better at posting a timely way.

Hope to find time for more Japan pictures and stories in upcoming weeks. Look forward to it!
