Days after covering a protest last week, I realized I had been shot with a new so-called "less-lethal" munition that the LAPD is using more commonly at protests: the FN303. This week, Chief McDonnell said that officers used the FN303 because a judge banned the LAPD from using 40mm launchers.

Any bookstore that can't sell as many copies of Backmask as they can get their hands on is just doing it wrong.

Does every writer have that one friend who keeps bringing up the book idea they want you to write for them, despite the fact that it doesn't make sense, wouldn't sell, isn't the kind of thing you write, and who can't pay anything up front but promise a percentage "in perpetuity?"

No? Just me, huh?

She was one of the best things about that movie. (The other one was James Cromwell.)
We don’t talk enough about Alfre Woodard’s performance in Star Trek: First Contact. Stunning. And among other things, brought out some of Patrick Stewart’s moments. He rarely had a partner who could meet his energy, but she did. 🖖🏽

So the lesson we ought to take away from this is that any system built on the assumption that billionaires will not reveal themselves to be moral cretins is destined to eventually fail.

You’ll never guess but the solution to people not having money is to give them money.
"By the end of the two-year period, 94% of participants reported they were housed."

A million pilot programs show the same thing: when people are given enough money to afford housing, homelessness ends.

Other supports matter, but housing comes first. Not policing. Not moralizing. Homes.

It seems very reasonable to me that humans would need to process (even gently, say, by heating it briefly) milk from some other, non-human kind of animal in order to drink it safely.
JFC folks drinking raw milk is Russian roulette except only one chamber is empty. You might as well drink wood alcohol. DON'T DO IT.
“Health officials in New Mexico are warning against consuming raw dairy products after a newborn baby in the state died from a listeria infection that they say was likely contracted when the baby's mother drank raw milk during pregnancy.” @jackiantonovich.bsky.social

A young boy gets caught up in the shenanigans of a gang of felonious celestial workmen who’ve stolen a map of Space-Time and are relentlessly pursued through History and Mythology by the Supreme Being and the Ultimate Evil.
