For those following the Red Ogre Review saga, he has made good on his promise to change his licensing terms...by doubling down.

On left: the original (awful) license. On right: the new license, mostly the same as the old license, but with some additions that I've circled in red.

Excellent video on the AI bubble.
Introducing the “AI-BOROS”: the few companies at the ‘top’ of the economy handing each other billions of (debt-ridden) dollars for a product that both doesn’t exist AND doesn’t make any money.

and we ALL get to go broke when it inevitably implodes ha ha i love it here!!!

Folks, I'm going to be incredibly annoying for the next, say, 24 hours - because the Australia Did It previews are live (with tremendous thanks to @mysticforgeinc.bsky.social & their PR teams doing incredible work arranging all the previews and interviews, because sheesh!)

Read that article about the """writer""" generating 200 books a year with AI and needless to say, I had THOUGHTS
Writers Who Use AI Are Not Real Writers
Dorothy Parker famously (but probably not really) said, “I hate to write, but I love having written,” which is a sentiment I don’t largely understand or agree with in the broader …

I don't have a solution beyond reminding folks to buy books they want to see more of, to reject the work of anyone peddling slop, and for all of us who are arts to hold the line as much as possible, have solidarity and lift one another up, and push back against this grift.

This article is incredible. It says everything us actual authors have been saying for years, but with a smile on its face.

“If you hide that there’s A.I., it sells just fine,” she said.

Uh huh? Tell me more. Like how you published 19 novels to sell 20,000 copies. An average of 1000 copies a title.
“If I can generate a book in a day, and you need six months to write a book, who’s going to win the race?” God this is bleak

The fact that every one of these grifters knows they have to lie to their readers says a lot about AI and these "writers."

I may not sell as many books as they do but at least I can be proud of what I created with the weird little ball of goop I call a brain.
fuck this lady, fuck the nyt reporter, fuck all of this. fuck amazon for introducing the KU page read model that makes this possible, fuck our tech overlords.

My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

Having just been through this on our latest game, I endorse this message.
General rule for all game-critical UI and text: if you personally think it's obnoxiously large, make it slighty larger than that.
Kids, if you're making a game and want to run it on a steamdeck or switch

your text size needs to be bigger

no, bigger

c'mon coward, bigger!

what is this, A GAME FOR ANTS? BIGGER

I was at a recent signing where I noted that we suspect about 10 to 15 percent of sales for this book came purely from the cover, and someone in the signing line who heard the comment said "Oh thank god, I'm not alone," which I thought was pretty funny.
Bought this as a vacation read based solely on the cover photo

Has not disappointed

This is a pretty good example why, even outside of creative, if I find out your business uses AI at any point in your workflow, I lose 90% confidence.

It’s not an ethical concern, it’s a competency one. I assume you’re an idiot if you think these things can work reliably in any critical role.
I don’t want to laugh at a small business but also VERY funny

Always glad when people read the Miriam Black books, which are very close to the desiccated bird’s nest that was once my heart.
I started another book. When did Staircase in the Woods come out? Last April? Whenever, that was the last time I read a @chuckwendig.bsky.social book and it was too long ago. Reading this is like a breath of fresh air. #booksky #urbanfantasy #horrorbooks #fantasybooks
